Top 10 of 2019: Top 10 New or New-to-Me Authors

Hey Guys,
I'm super excited about this wrap up. I always love gushing about the new authors I've fallen in love with throughout the year so today's topic is right up my street. Unfortunately, I will be only featuring 9 authors in this Top 10 as I didn't read quite as many new authors this year as I would have liked but here are the 9 authors I discovered a love for in 2019.

9. Samantha Shannon, author of The Priory of the Orange Tree

Samantha Shannon has been on my shelf for ages as I adore fantasy books but I just didn't read any of her work before this year. 2019 saw me delving into the ginormous The Priory of the Orange Tree and I am hoping to read more of Samantha's works in the coming months.

 8. Holly Jackson, author of A Good Girls Guide to Murder

I've found such a love of YA thriller's in the past few years so when 2019 saw the new thriller, A Good Girls Guide to Murder, release I couldn't wait to read it. I absolutely loved it. It kept me guessing right till the very end and I will definitely be picking up the next book by the amazing Holly Jackson.

7. Leigh Bardugo, author of Shadow and Bone, Siege and Storm, Ruin and Rising and Ninth House

This was was a long time coming to be honest. I got an ARC of Shadow and Bone back when it was known as The Gathering Dark and I just never got round to it. I foolishly got rid of that ARC (WHY, WHY DID I DO THAT?!?). Well this year I took the plunge and read the whole Shadow and Bone trilogy which I really enjoyed and I can't wait to continue on in that world to read Six of Crows. I also dived into Leigh's adult book Ninth House and I'm looking forward to book 2 in that series releasing.

6. Alexandra Sheppard, author of Oh My Gods

Alexandra Sheppard was one of the authors that I discovered from YALC and I read her amazing book Oh My Gods which was a contemporary with a mix of mythology as the main character was the daughter of one of the Greek Gods. It was super sweet and fun and I will definitely be checking out her future work.

5. Adrienne Young, author of Sky in the Deep

Adrienne Young was another new author to me this year. I loved her action packed Sky in the Deep. I picked it up as part of my pre-YALC reading and was sucked into her incredible world of warriors and mythology. I loved it and can't wait to pick up some more of her books.

4. Kristen Ciccarelli, author of The Last Namsara

The Last Namsara was a book I came across after seeing that Kristen was going to be going to YALC. I absolutely devoured it and it has made me such a fan of Kristen. I still haven't finished The Last Namsara series so I am definitely going to do that in the next few months and I will definitely be keeping my eyes out for other works of Kristen's.

3. SA Chakraborty, author of The City of Brass and The Kingdom of Copper

2019 was truly the year of Fantasy and one of those that I picked up was the amazing The City of Brass series and I fell head over heels in love with it. It's set in a Eastern world and I loved the history, the mythology of their Gods and their magic. I loved it so much and the final book of this series is on my must-reads of 2020. SA Chakraborty is a phenomenal series and she is definitely one of my must-read authors.

2. Carrie Hope Fletcher, author of On the Other Side and Winter's Snow

I was already a huge fan of Carrie Hope Fletcher before this year having seen her in some musicals and she is a stunning actress. However, before this year I had never picked up any of her books... now she is one of my favourite authors. Her books are romance with a twist of magic and I loved every single second of On the Other Side. My goal in 2020 is to catch up with her other books, all of which I already own. I am so very glad that I finally decided to pick up her books this year.

1. Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff, authors of Aurora Rising and Illuminae

I had never read anything by either of these authors before 2019 and now I am such a huge fan. I devoured Aurora Rising and then went on to read their other works. They are very sci-fi and addictive and I loved every second of it. I cannot wait to read their next releases.

Who were some of the new-to-you authors this year?
