Hey Guys,
Welcome back for Day 3 of the Top 10 of 2019... Today's topic is Captivating Characters which is my favourite characters from the books I've read this year. This was so difficult to narrow down to just 10 but here you are...
10. Darlington from Ninth House (Alex Stern #1) by Leigh Bardugo
This is probably quite a strange one as Darlington isn't really the main character in Ninth House and he's missing for quite a lot of the novel, only really appearing in flash backs and memories. However, I just loved him. He was sweet and lovely and so caught up by teaching Alex the ropes and protecting her while she learnt all of these dangerous magical rituals I just totally fell for him. I'm hoping book 2 of this series has more of Darlington is as he is definitely my favourite part of this book.
9. Holly from Postscript (PS, I Love You #2) by Cecelia Ahern
I was so skeptical when I heard about this book as I didn't really think it was needed and I feared it would ruin my favourite characters. I needn't have worried as Holly is still one of my favourite characters of all time. She is such a sweetie who is a little bit rough around the edges and I loved following her on this journey throughout Postscript. I am so glad Cecelia decided to write this and it gave me more of an insight into Holly's incredibly strong character.
8. Celine from The Beautiful (The Beautiful #1) by Renee Ahdieh
Celine from The Beautiful really stole my heart this year. She is such a flawed and angry character while also managing to be really sweet and quite naive at times and honestly that just made me love her. Never ready to back away from danger she made The Beautiful such a fantastic and thrilling read and I honestly cannot wait to read the sequel to see what becomes of her.
7. Mia from Where She Went (If I Stay #2) by Gayle Forman
I love Mia from this series. She has honestly gone through so much and I loved seeing how much she had grown throughout the time difference between If I Stay and Where She Went. She is such a great heroine and I really loved seeing her story throughout this book.
6. Mirabella from Two Dark Reigns (Three Dark Crowns #3) by Kendare Blake
Mirabella was always my favourite sister in the Three Dark Crowns series. She was the most powerful of the sisters but also the one who is the least bloodthirsty and just wanted to protect her sisters. I found her compelling and identifiable and it made me love reading the parts when she was in it.
5. Rielle from Furyborn (Emprium Trilogy #1) by Claire LeGrand
I loved Rielle. She's kind of like the character that you love and hate at the same time. I really found her point of view so compelling as at the start of the book Rielle is the evil queen, but then you go back in time and see her as a young girl and when she wasn't evil at all so I loved following her story as you know something is going to happen to make her turn... you just don't know what and I felt like this made her such an interesting character.
4. Zayne from Storm and Fury (Harbringer #1) by Jennifer L Armentrout
Zayne was my absolute favourite character from the Dark Elements series so I was so excited to hear he was getting his own series. He did not disappoint. I fell even more in love with him throughout this book and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book.
3. Luc from The Burning Shadow (Origin #2) by Jennifer L Armentrout
Now on these lists I always try my best to only include one book or series per author but I honestly just couldn't help it with this one. I absolutely adore Jennifer L Armentrout and Luc just needed a spot on this list. I loved the Lux series and I liked him in that as the creepy little kid that he was. He is even better now in his own series and he deserved this number 3 spot on my favourite characters.
2. Aurora from Aurora Rising (Aurora Cycle #1) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Aurora is such an awesome character and I loved following her story. She is a really naive girl who is in mortal danger and has to try her best to stay alive relying on others that seem to hate her. I loved every single second of following her story in Aurora Rising and I can't wait to read her next instalment.
1. Grey in A Heart So Fierce and Broken (Cursebreakers #2) by Brigid Kemmerer
I was very lucky to have been able to read A Heart So Fierce and Broken early so have already read this absolute gem. I already preferred Grey to Rhen in book one but honestly he is even better in this one. He is officially one of my favourite book boys in any series ever... I mean he beat JLA guys... for me that's saying a lot. Honestly, I just can't wait for everyone else to read this one in January so you can fall as much in love with Grey as I did.
Who were your favourite characters this year?
