I'm super excited to be participating once again in the Top 10 of the year. I love doing these wrap up posts filled with books of the year.
Today's topic is...
~ Top 10 Books I Wish I'd Made Time To Read ~
There's always so many books on my TBR and every year there are always many that I planned to read and never got around to so here are the top 10 of those books for 2019.
10. The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virture (Montague Siblings #1) by Mackenzie Lee
I'm not usually a big fan of YA Contemporary books as I'm more of a fantasy fan but I just loved the sound of this historical book and it sounds so fun and loving that I really wish I'd made time to read this one. I'm looking forward to hopefully picking it up in the future.
9. Rage (Stormheart #2) by Cora Carmack
Cora Carmack is one of my all time favourite authors and I loved the first book in the Stormheart series, Roar, when I read it a few years back. I was so excited for this one finally being released but with it being so long since I've read Roar I need to re-read it before jumping into this one and I just didn't manage to find the time to do that this year. Hopefully in the early months of 2020 I will.
8. Six of Crows (Six of Crows #1/Grisha #4) by Leigh Bardugo
I was a Leigh Bardugo virgin before 2019 and I devoured her Shadow and Bone trilogy. I have heard that this duology is even better so I can't wait to read it and be sucked back into this amazing fantasy world. I am aiming to read this in the next few months as part of me 'continuing a series' challenge.
7. Shadowsong (Wintersong #2) by S. Jae Jones
Wintersong was one of my favourite reads of 2018, based on the Goblin King from Labyrinth which is one of my all time favourite movies. I am so sad that I didn't get to this one as I am dying to see how it ends... plus it would be another one of my ongoing series finished.
6. Wild Savage Stars (Sweet Black Waves #2) by Kristina Perez
Sweet Black Waves, a retelling of Tristan and Isolde, was one of my favourite reads from last year and I was so excited to get an ARC of Wild Savage Stars at YALC in July and I am so sad that I haven't yet read it. I am dying to get to this one so hopefully I'll manage to read it in 2020.
5. The Deathless Girls by Kiran Millwood Hargrave
I picked this one up as soon as it released around October time as I was dying for a creepy book and hearing it was a retelling of the brides of Dracula which sounded right up my street. As is the case with all of the books on this list I am super sad I never got to read it. I may leave this one for a Halloween 2020 read.
4. Nevernight (Nevernight Chronicles #1) by Jay Kristoff
I had never read anything by Jay Kristoff before this year and then fell in love with Aurora Rising and started looking at all of his books. Everyone completely raves about this series so I immediately went out and bought it... and then it just sat on my shelf for ages. Hoping to read this one in 2020, and as I have this series in paperback I may wait for the final book to release in paperback and then do a binge read.
3. Vengeful (Villains #2) by VE Schwab
I freaking love VE Schwab... I just needed to get that out there. Vicious was my first book by hers that I read and I totally fell in love with her books and I have since read pretty much all of her books.... except for this one. This is another one where I feel like because I read Vicious a few years ago I may need to re-read it before reading Vengeful. I've been keeping this one for when I'm off work so I can devour every single second of it.
2. Gemina (Illuminae #2) by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman
This year was the year I was introduced to Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman and as much as I didn't think I'd enjoy this series due to it being wrote in a 'different' way. I bloody loved it though and I am dying to read the next books so Gemina is in my immediate 2020 TBR.
1. When the Curtain Falls by Carrie Hope Fletcher
I am such a huge lover of Carrie Hope Fletcher. I am not such a lover of contemporary books but hers seem to have just a bit of magic which I love. Add to that the fact that I am such a huge musical theatre fan, I cannot wait to read this one which is a ghostly romantic story set in a theatre. I need to get to this one soon.
Which books do you wish you had got to this year?
