Top 10 of 2019: Books I'm Looking Forward To in 2020


Can you believe it's 2020 tomorrow? I don't know where this year has gone. I hope you all have a fantastic new years. First though, it's the final day of the Top 10 of 2019 and I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing all of my Top 10 lists with you. Today's final list is the 2020 books I can't wait for.

10. One of Us Is Next (One of Us Is Lying #2) by Karen M McManus\

Genre: YA - Thriller/Mystery
Release Date: January 9, 2020

Why I Can't Wait: One of Us Is Lying was one of the first YA thriller/mystery books I read and I loved it. I loved all of the characters and the guessing what was going to happen so I can't wait to catch up with all of those characters.




9. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (The Hunger Games #0.5) by Suzanne Collins

Genre: YA - Dystopia
Release Date: May 19, 2020

Why I Can't Wait: I absolutely love The Hunger Games. It's a series that made me absolutely fall in love with dystopia which is still to this day one of my favourite genres. I'm so excited to see what happened before the events of The Hunger Games.
8. A Throne of Swans (A Throne of Swans #1) by Katherine and Elizabeth Corr

Genre: YA - Fantasy
Release Date: January 9, 2020

Why I Can't Wait: I love YA Fantasy and I remember hearing about this one while at YALC and a fantasy that seems to be influences by Swan Lake or The Swan Princess is a yes from me. I luckily have an ARC of this on my shelf so I'm hoping to get to really soon.


7. The Court of Miracles (A Court of Miracles #1) by Kester Grant

Genre: YA - Fantasy
Release Date: June 2, 2020

Why I Can't Wait: It's a fantasy retelling of Les Miserables. As a huge musicals fan I am so excited about this. I love the storyline of Les Mis so I can't wait to see how it is portrayed as a fantasy retelling.




6. The Notorious Virtues (The Notorious Virtues #1) by Alwyn Hamilton

Genre: YA - Fantasy
Release Date: May 5, 2020

Why I Can't Wait: I absolutely loved Alwyn Hamilton's Rebel of the Sands series. It still remains one of my all time favourites so I can't wait to read another series from her. I already know it's just going to be epic.




5. The Dark Queen (Balance #5) by Janelle Stalder

Genre: YA - Paranormal Romance
Release Date: 2020

Why I Can't Wait: I started reading this series back in 2016 and I cannot wait to find out how it all ends. I love the world, the characters and everything and I just need this book in my hands... immediately!




4. The Empire of Gold (Daevabad Trilogy #3) by SA Chakraborty

Genre: YA - Fantasy
Release Date: June 11, 2020

Why I Can't Wait: I love this series so much. It's filled with magic and intrigue and it's quite possibly my favourite 'new' series I've read in 2019. I adore that it's set in a middle eastern setting as it's just so fascinating to me. I cannot wait to see how it all ends. Is it June yet?



3. The Damned (The Beautiful #2) by Renee Ahdieh

Genre: YA - Paranormal Romance
Release Date: June 9, 2020

Why I Can't Wait: The Beautiful was one of my favourite 2019 reads and I forgot how much I loved a good YA vampire book. The ending of The Beautiful gutted me. I cannot wait to find out what happens with Celine and Sebastian. 



2. Aurora Burning (Aurora Cycle #2) by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Genre: YA - Sci-fi
Release Date: May 5, 2020

Why I Can't Wait: I absolutely adored Aurora Rising this year and I can't wait to read more about this wonderful group of misfits. I fell head over heels in love with this series and it broke mt heart as well. May 5th cannot get here any quicker.



1. House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City #1) by Sarah J Maas

Genre: Adult - Fantasy
Release Date: March 3, 2020

Why I Can't Wait: I freaking adore Sarah J Maas. Ever since receiving a wonderful ARC of her debut novel Throne of Glass I have fallen head over heels in love with her and devoured every single book she has written. I can't wait to dive into her first adult fantasy novel and I'm so excited for this one I've already pre-ordered the gorgeous special edition hardback edition of this one. Is it March yet?





Honourable Mention: A Heart So Fierce and Broken, releasing in January. I wanted to include this one however, I have already read it so felt like I would use the top 10 to feature some of the books that I am looking forward to reading.
