From Goodreads:
For years, the human and vampire residents of Morganville, Texas, have managed to co-exist in peace. But now that the threat to the vampires has been defeated, the human residents are learning that the gravest danger they face is the enemy within…

Thanks to the eradication of the parasitic creatures known as the draug, the vampires of Morganville have been freed of their usual constraints. With the vampires indulging their every whim, the town’s human population is determined to hold on to their lives by taking up arms. But college student Claire Danvers isn’t about to take sides, considering she has ties to both the humans and the vampires.

To make matters worse, a television show comes to Morganville looking for ghosts, just as vampire and human politics collide. Now, Claire and her friends have to figure out how to keep the peace without ending up on the nightly news… or worse.

The Morganville Vampires series is one of my favourite series and after having these last few books on my shelves unread for 4 years, I thought it was about time to finish the series. After finishing Black Dawn, I couldn't help but jump straight into Bitter Blood, and I am so glad that I did. This is a series that just gets more and more addictive the further through you get.

Bitter Blood follows the story of Claire and her friends as they are left with a dangerous Morganville after defeating the vampires ememies. Although everyone, vampire and human alike are now safe, the vampires no longer have something to fear... which makes them top of the food chain again... which isn't safe for the humans. Can Claire barter with those she once saw as friends?

Bitter Blood was fast-paced and addictive. Right from the start I couldn't put it down and at time was shocked and on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen and whether all of my beloved characters were going to survive. Bitter Blood isn't one of my favourite books of the series but it was still fantastic and I enjoyed every single second of it.

Claire was one again in the thick of danger and drama. She is seriously one of my all-time favourite characters as she is so brave and kick-ass but in a vulnerable way. It's a difficult feat to have a character that is continously all of those things but Rachel Caine pulls it off flawlessly. She has developed such amazing characters in this series and they remain to be some of my favourite of all time.

As is expected from a Morganville Vampires book Bitter Blood left me hanging. Talk about a heartbreaking cliffhanger! I can't wait to get into the next book to see what is going to happen. I'll be heading straight into it so watch this space. If you haven't read any of this series, what are you waiting for? It's incredible.
