From Goodreads:
Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

WOW! Now THAT is how you do a NA Contemporary novel!
Hopeless was my first book by Colleen Hoover and wow. There are no words to describe how much I loved it. Coming from someone who reads NA but doesn't really love it much that is a compliment. I loved this book so much and I will definitely be reading her other works.

Hopeless was one of those books that everyone goes on about how great it is so you buy it but then it sits unread for the longest time and when you finally get around to reading it you're like WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!?!?!?! Hopeless was everything I could have imagined and more.

The narrator to this audio book was one of the best I have listened to to date. I really enjoyed listening to it and she really gave life to both characters. I could really picture them in my head from her great characterisations of them. She was so great and I will definitely be listening to her other audios.

I'll be honest and say that when I started this one I didn't think I would love it. I'm just not very much of a NA person. I've read a few and loved them, namely JLA's and Melissa West's but I am much more of a fan of NA Paranormal than NA Contemp. I just find that a lot of NA Contemps seem to sound the same and it's same old same old with a different author and different character names. Hopeless was like that to start. I thought here we go predictable just like all the rest and then BAM! Enter the twist that had me reeling going NO WAAAAYYYY!!!!

Really I couldn't believe this little gem of a book. Hopeless is defiitely a gem in the sea of many many same old predictable NA Contemps. I admit I had totally pinned it as one of those only to discover it was absolutely amazing. I will definitely be trying Colleen's other books based on this one.  I really loved it.

  1. YAY!!! I am so glad you liked this. This was my first Hoover book, too! It was fantastic! Now you have to go read Losing Hope. Yes, it's a retelling from Holder's POV, but it's not just that. There's lots of new stuff and seeing things from his eyes is AMAZING! Plus you get to meet Daniel and then you can read Finding Cinderella and LOVE that one! EEP! Your review makes me giddy!
