From Goodreads:
Forced to drop out of an esteemed East Coast college after the sudden death of her parents, Jane Moore takes a nanny job at Thornfield Park, the estate of Nico Rathburn, a world-famous rock star on the brink of a huge comeback. Practical and independent, Jane reluctantly becomes entranced by her magnetic and brooding employer and finds herself in the midst of a forbidden romance.

But there's a mystery at Thornfield, and Jane's much-envied relationship with Nico is soon tested by an agonizing secret from his past. Torn between her feelings for Nico and his fateful secret, Jane must decide: Does being true to herself mean giving up on true love?

An irresistible romance interwoven with a darkly engrossing mystery, this contemporary retelling of the beloved classic Jane Eyre promises to enchant a new generation of readers.

"Jane, you get me. And I think I get you."

Jane is one of those books that has been sat on my shelf for so many years I can't even remember how I heard about this book or where I got it from. I'm a huge fan of retellings so I'm pretty sure I picked this one up years ago before I read Jane Eyre. I think I put this off for so long as I've tried to read Jane Eyre many times and never managed to get all the way through it.

I finally took the leap and picked up this retelling... and I finished it in a day. I really enjoyed this book. Right from the start I was intrigued by this story and it's characters. I did find the storyline quite predictable which surprised me. Often I do find retellings predictable as I'm familiar with the original story. However, with this one I've never actually got further than 20% of the way through Jane Eyre yet I felt like I had read this storyline before many times. All of the twists and turns in the story I guessed long before they happened.

I really enjoyed Jane. Although it was predictable the writing style was fantastic and I will definitely be looking out for April Lindner's other works to read in the future. I've definitely been inspired to give Jane Eyre another go and it's definitely on my TBR list now. If you're a fan of Jane Eyre and love a good retelling then I highly recommend picking up Jane. You won't be disappointed.

"Because you're the one I want. You're the only one I want."
