From Goodreads:
Geralt was always going to stand out, with his white hair and piercing eyes, his cynicism and lack of respect for authority... but he is far more than a striking-looking man. He's a witcher, with powers that make him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin - his targets are the vile fiends that ravage the land.

As guardian of the innocent, Geralt meets incestuous kings with undead daughters, vengeful djinns, shrieking harpies, lovelorn vampires and despondent ghouls. Many are pernicious, some are merely, and none are quite as they appear.

The Last Wish was a recent book added to my collection. After seeing The Witcher TV series advertised I decided I wanted to read the book before I watched the show. It was very different to what I was expecting as it is a collection of short stories about the Witcher Geralt.

I enjoyed some of the short stories more than others, with some of them being quite long winded and slow but as a whole I really enjoyed The Last Wish. Reading this book you really get an insight into Geralt and what sort of person he is. You also get an introduction into some of the monsters in this world. One of the things I loved about these stories is that a lot of them were inspired by some well known fairytales. There was a Beauty and the Beast-eske story in there and one of them resembles parts of the Rumplestiltskin story. I loved seeing these little hints to well known and well loved fairytales.

I really enjoyed The Last Wish and I can't wait to dive into both the TV series and the next book in The Witcher series and see more of these characters and this very addictive fantasy world.
