From Goodreads:
Despite her outgoing demeanor, Olivia is painfully insecure around the opposite sex—usually, she can’t get up the nerve to approach guys she’s interested in. But moving to Edinburgh has given her a new start, and, after she develops a crush on a sexy postgrad, she decides it’s time to push past her fears and go after what she wants.

Nate Sawyer is a gorgeous player who never commits, but to his close friends, he’s as loyal as they come. So when Olivia turns to him with her relationship woes, he offers to instruct her in the art of flirting and to help her become more sexually confident.

The friendly education in seduction soon grows into an intense and hot romance. But then Nate’s past and commitment issues rear their ugly heads, and Olivia is left brokenhearted. When Nate realizes he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, he will have to work harder than he ever has before to entice his best friend into falling back in love with him—or he may lose her forever…

"You'll end up living a lonely life if you're waiting around for perfect."

Before Jamaica Lane has been sat on my shelf unread for years. I am so bad at starting series and not finishing them so one of my 2019 challenges is to catch up on my unfinished series. I was a little bit worried about picking this one up as the more I read the more I realise contemporary books just aren't typically my kind of thing. However, I am so glad I picked up Before Jamaica Lane. I loved this book and couldn't put it down.

The On Dublin Street series follows a group of friends and each book is the love story of another person from that group. One thing I love about this series is that before you get their story, you already know the character and a little bit about them. Another thing I love about it that because they are friends you get to see how the couples you've already fallen in love with are doing. I have to say that Before Jamaica Lane is probably one of my favourite of the series so far. I love how the storyline was more 'fun' and playful than the other books with something majorly serious being in the characters lives. That's not to say this doesn't have that serious issues in their past but the emotional relationship of the main characters seemed more fun and playful.

Once again Samantha Young showed herself to be a fantastic author. She just has this special way of drawing your attention and not letting it go. Considering I am not a huge contemporary lover, I couldn't put this book down. It was stunning and phenomenal! I was just so emotionally invested in these characters and it was a beautiful and heartwarmingly romantic story. I am so happy I finally picked this book up and I will definitely be finishing the series soon. If you're a lover of adult contemporary, I can't recommend these books enough. They even make me, a usual contemporary avoider, love them. These are highly recommended.

"I do need you to know that I'm going to fight for you. I'm not making the mistake of walking away from you again. The only man in you future is me, Liv. The only kids in your future are mine."
