From Goodreads:
Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison--even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

"But you're the only one, Scarlet. You'll always be the only one."

Cinder, the first installment in the amazing Lunar Chronicles, was one of the first audiobooks I listened to and I loved it. Regardless of this and me already having the audiobook of Scarlet I didn't start listening to it straight away even though the ending of Cinder had me going 'THAT CANNOT BE THE END'. After listening to Scarlet I don't know what took me so long to listen to it. Once again I was captured by this phenomenal storyline and space world I couldn't stop listening. This is fast becoming one of the audio series that I know I will listen to again.

Scarlet is looking for her grandmother. Ever since her grandmother went missing weeks ago Scarlet has not been able to let go of the feeling that something sinister is going on within her Grandmothers disappearance. Enter Wolf, the mysterious and slightly frightening new guy in town with a strange tattoo Scarlet enlists his help to search for her Grandmother. But when secrets come out Scarlet must accept that her Grandmother might not be who she thought she was.

I will admit I was very disappointed when I started listening to Scarlet and discovered that we were not following Cinder and Prince Kai all the way through like we did in Cinder. Cinder ended in such a cliffhanger I wanted it to pick up right where we left off with Cinder and Kai so to find out we were being introduced to a new storyline with Scarlet, Wolf and her Grandmother I was very disappointed. Throughout the first half of the book I just kept wishing the chapters with Scarlet would hurry up so I could get back to Cinder and honestly the chapters with Cinder were my favourite parts of this book. However the more I read the more I warmed to the Scarlet storyline and ended up liking it. I see that with this series we get many different characters storylines that interconnect further down the line. I'm just a far too impatient reader to want to wait to get back to those characters that I already love.

Scarlet was such an awesome character and the more I read the more I really started to love her. She is totally kick-ass and snarky and I just loved that about her. Enter Wolf. Wolf is a total tough-guy who is rough around the edges but has a heart of gold. He isn't your typical YA character that I would automatically fall for but the more I read about him the more I just wanted to push all of the differences he and Scarlet had aside so they could just get together already. I loved them.

Scarlet was a fantastic follow-up to the amazing Cinder and the narrator once again did a phenomenal job of bringing all of the characters to life. There wasn't one moment of it where I wanted to turn the audiobook off. I love this narrator and will definitely be looking out for any more audiobooks that she has narrated. Scarlet was packed full of action and the stakes were definitely higher in this one. I cannot wait to read Cress, the next book in the Lunar Chronicles and I am jumping straight into the audio of that one. I would recommend the audio editions of this series to anyone.

"I knew they would kill me when they found out, but… I think I realized that I would rather die because I betrayed them, than live because I betrayed you."
