Untouched (Denezen #1.5) by Jus Accardo

Until he met Dez, Kale’s days were filled with violence and death. He was used as a weapon of destruction by the power hungry men of Denazen. He’s a Six. A person with an abnormal ability. Some people call them gifts, but not Kale. Kale’s touch means instant death.
But now there’s Dez, the girl he can touch, and they’re hunting down Sixes and warning them about Denazen. Kale is learning about the world outside captivity and trying to put his dark past behind him. But they underestimated how badly Denazen wanted him back.
When Dez sacrifices herself to save the new Six they’d rescued from falling into the corp’s hands, Kale is lost. Denazen has brought out its best to get the job done. Samsen, a nightmare from Kale’s past—the only person he’s ever truly feared—has come for them, and it soon becomes obvious he has his own twisted agenda.
Kale will need all his training to get Dez back and ensure they make it out, free—and alive. But will it be enough?

So I am very excited to welcome the awesome Jus to K-Books where she is going to talk to us about writing.
But first here's some info about the awesome woman herself...

JUS ACCARDO spent her childhood reading and learning to cook. Determined to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps as a chef, she applied and was accepted to the Culinary Institute of America. At the last minute, she realized her path lay with fiction, not food, and passed on the spot to pursue writing. Jus is the author of YA paranormal romance and urban fantasy fiction. A native New Yorker, she lives in the middle of nowhere with her husband, three dogs, and sometimes guard bear, Oswald. Her first book, Touch was released in November 2011 from Entangled Publishing. She is currently working on the next book in the Denazen series.

You know you’re a writer if…
Like most professions, writers have certain tells. Specific traits and habits that set them apart from the mechanics, doctors, and goat farmers of the world. On a whole, we’re quirky, easy to misunderstand, and can be pretty intense at times.
We’re fairly easy to spot if you know what to look for, so to take a page from comedian Jeff Foxworthy, you know you’re a writer if…
If you argue with people no one else can hear or see, you’re probably a writer. Or an escapee from the mental ward. Could go either way on that one…
If your work uniform consists of fuzzy socks, tank tops, flannel pants, or pajama jeans, there’s a good chance you’re a writer. Or you could be a tragic fashion victim that likes soft things… (or both—like me)
If you consume more than a gallon of either coffee, jolt cola, or Mt Dew in a single twenty-four hour span, you’re definably a writer. We thrive on caffeine.
If you’ve ever done something crazy in the name of research, such as quizzing firemen on how to get away with arson, bungee jumping off a bridge because one of your characters is going to do it, or locking yourself in the trunk of your best friend’s car to see how it feels, you’re a writer. Or, again, an escapee from the mental ward.
( Funny how we share a lot of the same traits… )
If you can’t resist the urge to rewrite ads (Newspaper, magazines, ect), rearranging sentences or changing and cutting repeated words, there’s a good chance you’re a writer. Right? I’m not the only one who does this…? Right!?!
If you get ideas at random times, then jot them down on everything from newspaper scraps to the side of the milk carton, it’s possible you’re a writer. Or just really disorganized…
If you ask your significant other to help you work out a fight, then accidentally break his or her nose because you got carried away, you’re a writer.
And lastly, when people irritate you, you find yourself drafting an elaborate death scene in your head, complete with dialog, motivation, and possibly gratuitous amounts of torture.

Thank you Jus for being on K-Books today, and good luck on the rest of the tour.

The awesome Entangled publishing is giving away one e-copy of Untouched so leave me a comment with your thoughts. Don't forget to leave our email address.

  1. "If you can’t resist the urge to rewrite ads (Newspaper, magazines, ect), rearranging sentences or changing and cutting repeated words, there’s a good chance you’re a writer. Right?"

Hehehehehe, nope, you're DEFINITELY not alone in this one, lol.

You forgot: If you walk down the street with character conversations happening in your head and your body and face reflects all of their gestures and expressions to the point folk stare and wonder 'What's going on in HER head?' to which you're mind auto responds: 'Wouldn't YOU like to know?'

Love these kind of posts. Thanks for the giveaway. :o)

  2. I just pre-ordered the paperback version of touch, I am looking forward to read it :)

  3. I love the 'you know your an author if-'. Too funny! I'm waiting for my copy of Touch to come in the mail. I need to get busy so I can enjoy the next stories.

  4. Wow, this was fun! I've given myself strict rules to only argue with my characters when I'm inside my own house. Never grocery stores..or on walks. Okay, usually not in grocery stores or on walks.
