Cover Reveal: Pyxis and Alight

Hey guys,
So I have a cover reveal for everyone today and I couldn't be more excited about taking part. It's for the Pyxis Series by the incredible KC Neal.
I got an ARC of the first book last year and let me tell you it is a Must-Read. It's incredible and I am so excited for Alight. Well with the cover of Alight, Pyxis is getting a brand-new cover.
I didn't know how I felt about it at first because I adored the other cover. It was stunning!
I love this cover too it's so pretty.
So what do you think?

Corinne lives an average teenage life working at her dad’s cafe, hanging out with her best friend, and trying to forget a falling-out with her almost-boyfriend Mason. Then she discovers she and Mason are haunted by the same dreams of a dark force that consumes everything in its path. Pursued by shadowy figures and a dangerous woman with secrets from the past, Corinne must find out who her grandmother really was. In her quest to unravel her family’s history, she learns she is destined to protect this world--and the dark world of her dreams. She races to find the answers she seeks before her nightmares break free.

I loved this book so much! AND Pyxis is free, yes you heard me FREE, on Kindle today and tomorrow. Well what are you waiting for? Go grab a Copy.

So what do you think? It's so beautiful isn't it? So if you have a Kindle go grab a copy because this book is incredible.

So... Now to the part I've been waiting for since last year! The cover of the sequel Alight.
Well here you go
*drumroll please*

When Corinne learns who the second Guardian is, she must find a way to make peace with the last person in the world she wants to deal with. As she struggles, her nemesis unleashes an otherworldly evil, and a mysterious illness strikes Corinne’s friends. Faltering under the weight of her destiny, Corinne escapes to the dream world. There, she meets Zane, an Australian guy with a hot accent and a revelation that binds them together and alters the path of Corinne’s life. She throws herself into fighting for everything she loves, but just as she’s certain she will prevail, she’s robbed of what she needs most.

Alight is due for release: July 27, 2012

There are no words explaining how excited I am for this book. I adored Pyxis and can't wait to see what happens.

The Daemon Invasion is HERE! Are you excited?

Over the last couple of weeks, you’ve heard us talking about the upcoming #daemoninvasion and we’re so excited to finally share with you what is going on.
Really excited.

The beautiful and uber cool models, Pepe Toth and Sztella Tziotziosz, who grace the Lux covers, will be joining us in the United States!  You heard right.  They are flying here, from Hungary to spend a few days as Daemon and Katy! While they are here, they will be working with Vania, from VLC Productions (the team behind Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments, Melissa de La Cruz, Kimberly Derting, Moira Young, Kami Garcia and Margret Stohl, Hillary Duff, Lauren Destefano, and many, many more authors’ book trailers), to film book trailers for the Lux Series.

During the filming in Atlanta, they will be accompanying us on tour! What does that mean? You get to meet them. In the flesh. They will be participating in the signings and events. At those signings, we’ll be giving away signed posters, photos, and other swag. There will also be meet and greet events you can join in on.

At each signing, there will be advanced copies of Onyx given away!

And to top things off (as if this isn’t enough, but we don’t do anything small), there’s something very, very exciting in the works! It involves advanced copies of Opal, water, and a little destination known as the Bahamas.

I am not kidding.

This will be epic.

Aare you excited? I am! This tour is going to be so, so much fun, and I’m so thrilled that Pepe and Sztella are a part of it. We owe them a huge thank you and a giant welcome making the 16 hour flight to meet the readers of the Lux Series.  You!

From Goodreads: The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane.

Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable.

Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in.

Captivated. Lured. Loved.

Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.

This is a prequel and I am giving it 5 stars, which is very unusual for me. But to be honest this didn't feel like a prequel. I expected it to be short and a bit rushed, like many prequels are, but this was nothing like that. It felt like a short novella, we get to know how Dawson and Bethany met. And instead of it being rushed it is written in the same pace as obsidian. It was shorter than a normal book, but I actually didn't really notice it. It was just the perfect lenght to tell their story.

Just like Obsidian this book has that keep-reading-feel. I really liked the story. When you have read Obsidian you already know the global lines of what is going to happen, but reading and seeing the events develop is so much different. Dawson and Bethany become two characters, with their own personalities instead of just Deamons brother and his girlfriend.

I really liked getting to know Dawson and Bethany, they are so sweet and their relationship is just perfect. It's very different from the romance in Obsidian, but both romances are done very well. I felt like I really got an idea of who Dawson and Bethany were and we even get some more insight in the rest of the characters like Deamon. We get to see him from an entirly different perspective now and his behavior in obsidian suddenly makes more sense.

To conclude: I really enjoyed this book. I liked the story and the characters. I couldn't put it down and really enjoyed it. If you liked obsidian you should definitely read this book, although I think it's best when you read obsidian first. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series!

Review: Becoming A Butterfly

Becoming A Butterfly
Mia Castile

Publication Date: May 22, 2012
Date Read: April 25, 2012
Genre: YA - Contemporary Romance
Source: Review Copy from Author
Format: E-Book
From Goodreads:
16 years old Lacey was never the center of attention, unless she was tripping, stammering, or being deposited into a pool by the local popular kids. All she wanted was to fit in, until one night when everything changed.
Jade and Tasha, her two best friends, helped her create an online personality that was everything she wanted to be - and it was only the beginning. In doing so she attracted the attention of Henry, her lifelong crush and next door neighbor. Unfortunately it was Farrah her online personality and not herself he was interested in.
She also attracted Chase the brooding, quiet, anti-social new kid of Brownsburg High School, who easily figured out her secret and blackmailed her. They forged a friendship that was both unique and complicated.
Lacey must decide if revealing herself to Henry and her entire school as the cool, charming, and funny Farrah is worth possibly losing him forever, and she finds herself needing to make an even harder decision than she ever thought possible. When did the lines between truth and lies get so blurred?

Becoming a Butterfly is a story about coming of age and finding yourself when you never knew you were lost.

"I feel safe with Chase, like he sees me for who I really am, and who I want to be."

Mia has done it again. She has come out with another novel that I fell head over heels for. This book was so good and when I started it I meant to read a few chapters and then study for a bit. A few hours later no studying has been done but the book has been finished. It completely drew me it and I really loved reading this.

Lacey has always wanted to fit in but she stands out. She is the 'loser' girl and all she wants is to be liked. One night of fun and an online joke suddenly changes Lacey's life forever. In pretending to be her new online persona she attracts the attention of her next door neighbour Henry, a.k.a the guy she;s crushed over forever! But suddenly the joke is going on and Lacey wants Henry to like her for her, not some pretend personality online. But one lie leads to another and she finds herself in a web she cannot untangle. To complicate matters she has caught the attention of Chase, the new guy at school who sees through her lies and they start a new and strangely complicated relationship. Will Lacey be able to get out of her tangle of lies and how can she be certain it is worth it when what she's been waiting for may be standing right in front of her.

I really enjoyed this book. After reading Mia's other novels I couldn't wait to read this so when she sent me it for review I so did a happy dance and couldn't wait to start. I was expecting and amazing romance like her other book 'The Ocean' but I was very surprised. Sure it has romance in it but this book is about so much more than that. It's main storyline is being happy with who you are and self-discovery. I loved that the book was Lacey's journey of self-discovery and I couldn't put it down as I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen.

I really sympathised with Lacey. I can definitely relate, she was the loser at school who got ridiculed but all she wanted was to fit in. I think anyone can relate with that and it makes it very easy for you to sympathise with her. I definitely did. Half of the time I just wanted to give her a hug the other half I wanted to shake her and say "Open your eyes and see what's in front of you." I really enjoyed this book but I would have like to see a bit more romance between Lacey and Chase at the end.
All in all I thought it was great.

"You never needed that wig. You're perfect as you."

Hex Hall (Hex Hall #1)

Hex Hall (Hex Hall #1)
Rachel Hawkins

Publication Date: March 2, 2012
Finish Date: April 24, 2012
Format: Paperback

From Goodreads: Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.
By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.
As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

Let me start by saying this is a very enjoyable and nice read. The story is predictable, has a bit of a harry potter feel, but I still wanted to keep reading. It's a nice story about Sophie who has to go to hex hall, a school for wayward witches, shifters and fearies. The story feels like a light read, while still adressing serious topics.

I started reading this book because I heard many people say it was an enjoyable read. While I can say many things about hex hall, it definitely is an enjoyable read and worth picking up. But be warned don't expect a great complicated story, the story is actually a bit predictable and just like in the Harry Potter books there is this building up and then a confrontation at the end.

The characters also are a bit stereotypical, escpecially at the beginning. But in the end still managed to surprise me. I did like the lead character, mostly she is just a funny and a bit naive girl. She does grow a bit in this book and at the end she actually shows some real strenght.

To conclude: a nice and enjoyable read. I really enjoyed it and finished this book prety quick, but it certainly has it's flaws. The story is a bit predictable and makes use of some clich├ęs. I will be reading the other books in this series, because it is nice to read a light and enjoyable read for a change.
