From Goodreads:
Geralt is a witcher, a man whose magic powers, enhanced by long training and a mysterious elixir, have made him a brilliant fighter and a merciless assassin. Yet he is no ordinary murderer: his targets are the multifarious monsters and vile fiends that ravage the land and attack the innocent. He roams the country seeking assignments, but gradually comes to realise that while some of his quarry are unremittingly vile, vicious grotesques, others are the victims of sin, evil or simple naivety.

In this collection of short stories, following the adventures of the hit collection The Last Wish, join Geralt as he battles monsters, demons and prejudices alike...

After finishing The Last Wish and really enjoying it, I couldn't wait to dive into the next instalment of The Witcher series. I wish I could say I enjoyed Sword of Destiny as much as the first book but I didn't. I found myself getting quite bored throughout this one and it was quite a struggle to finish.

Sword of Destiny, much like The Last Wish, is a collection of short stories telling the back story of our main character Geralt. I found myself getting bored really easily as the short stories are very similar. Geralt has a monster to fight... fight ensues... Geralt wins. I'd seen this many times in the first book and it was just the same all over again. I didn't feel like any of these short stories were adding any more to my knowledge of the world and Geralt. I feel like I'm just ready for the actual series and story to start now rather than having a million prequel novellas.

I will definitely be continuing the series but I felt like Sword of Destiny was unnecessary and long-winded. If I decide to re-read the series, I will definitely be skipping this one.
