From Goodreads:
Ever since the draug—mysterious creatures that prey on vampires—took over Morganville, the lives of student Claire Danvers and her friends have been thrown into turmoil. Most of the town’s residents have evacuated, but Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael have chosen to stay and fight.Using the city’s water system to spread, the draug have rapidly multiplied. Things in Morganville look grim, especially since vampire Amelie—the town founder—has been infected by the master draug’s bite.

Now, if Claire and her friends don’t figure out how to cure Amelie and defeat the draug, it looks like Morganville will become little more than a ghost town…

The Morganville Vampires Series is one that I have had on the go for so long. I read the first 11 books of this series years ago in 2010/2011 and for some reason I just never finished it. I absolutely loved this series when I first read it and as I picked up Black Dawn in a bid to catch up on some unfinished series I was reminded of my love for this series. I loved every single moment of Black Dawn and I am completely kicking myself for not going back to this series sooner.

Black Dawn follows Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael as they try to survive the vampires deadly enemies the Draug. The Draug aren't just deadly to vampires but to humans too and they must try and defeat them in order to save the lives of everyone in Morganville. But not everybody will survive this deadly threat.

Black Dawn was fast paced and magical. I couldn't put it down. One thing about Rachel Caine is that she has this addictive storytelling skill. No matter which one of her books it is I have a very difficult time putting it down and this was no different. I couldn't get through these pages fast enough. Right from the very first paced I was sucked back into the world of Morganville and I loved every single moment.

The Morganville Vampires series will always be one of my all time favourite series and this was cemented even further by Black Dawn. I loved being back in this amazing world with some of my favourite characters than I have ever read. It really is an ode to Rachel Caine being so fantastic that she can have a series that gets to book 12 and you still feel like it's fresh and new and not enough. Usually by this point I feel like it's getting dragged out but with this series I just want more and more and more. Black Dawn broke my heart and then slowly put it back together. I loved every moment and I can't wait to get started on the next book. It's a must-read!
