We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from New York Times bestselling author, National Book Award finalist, and Printz Award honoree E. Lockhart.

Read it.

And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE.

We Were Liars is a book that I have had on my shelf for years. I remember buying it at my very first YALC about 3 years ago (maybe 4 I can't remember) and I just remember all of the hype surrounding this book. Like seriously, everyone who read this book seemed to absolutely love it. And I really wish I could say the same. I wanted to love this book. I really, really did. I just... didn't.

We Were Liars revolves around a group of rich families and the secrets that they carry. It had such a great premise but I just couldn't get into it. I didn't connect with any of the characters and I was so bored. I didn't want to continue reading because I didn't really care what happened to the characters and I am really not curious at all to find anything out about how it all ended.

I really wanted to love this book but it just wasn't for me.
