From Goodreads:
Beware the goblin men and the wares they sell.

All her life, nineteen-year-old Liesl has heard tales of the beautiful, mysterious Goblin King. He is the Lord of Mischief, the Ruler Underground, and the muse around which her music is composed. Yet, as Liesl helps shoulder the burden of running her family’s inn, her dreams of composition and childish fancies about the Goblin King must be set aside in favor of more practical concerns.

But when her sister Käthe is taken by the goblins, Liesl journeys to their realm to rescue her sister and return her to the world above. The Goblin King agrees to let Käthe go—for a price. The life of a maiden must be given to the land, in accordance with the old laws. A life for a life, he says. Without sacrifice, nothing good can grow. Without death, there can be no rebirth. In exchange for her sister’s freedom, Liesl offers her hand in marriage to the Goblin King. He accepts.

Down in the Underground, Liesl discovers that the Goblin King still inspires her—musically, physically, emotionally. Yet even as her talent blossoms, Liesl’s life is slowly fading away, the price she paid for becoming the Goblin King’s bride. As the two of them grow closer, they must learn just what it is they are each willing to sacrifice: her life, her music, or the end of the world.

"Love is the bridge that spans the world above and below, and keeps the wheel of life turning."

Wintersong is a book that had been on my radar for a while. I thought it sounded like somrthing I would totally love and I was so happy when it was featured in one of the Illumicrate subscription boxes. Wintersong is a young adult fantasy novel that is inspired by the tales of the Goblin King, and it is heavily influenced by the movie Labyrinth. I absolutely adore that movie so I knew this book would be something I would really enjoy.

Wintersong is the story of Elizabeth, whom everyone calls Liesl. She has believed in the Goblin King since before she can remember. Every piece of music she has ever composed she has done so thinking of the dreamy Goblin King. When her sister is taken into the Underground, Liesl follows her and she will do everything possible to save her sister.

I really loved Elizabeth in this book. She goes through such a massive journey in this book. She starts as Liesl the young girl who sacrifices everything for her family to Elizabeth the woman who knows what she wants in life and will do everything in her power to get it. It's such an amazing journey that she goes through in this book and I loved experiencing that throughout the novel with her.

Wintersong is such a fantastic novel. It's packed to the brim with action and adventure with just the right amount of romance. I loved every single moment of it and I couldn't read it fast enough. I was dying to see what was going to happen with the characters. S Jae Jones has such an amazing writing style. My attention was grabbed right from the very start and I couldn't stop reading. It's wrote so expertly it's hard to believe that this gem of a book was her debut.

Wintersong is a fantastic start to what I know will be a phenomenal fantasy series. I loved every moment of it and I cannot wait to read the next book. It's going to be amazing. If you're looking for a new book that will devour your heart then look no further. Wintersong is a beautiful, amazing novel that is filled with music and magic. A must-read.
