From Goodreads:
With any great change, there is always strife, and the Covenant University has become the frontline between pure-bloods who want the Breed Order reinstated and the half-bloods who want the right to control their own destinies.
Fate has other plans.

The violence is escalating and war between the races seems inevitable, and it couldn’t come at a worse time. Hyperion may be out of commission, but Josie and Seth know they have only earned a reprieve. Seth must get Josie fully prepared, which means controlling her newfound abilities, and they need to find the other demigods before the Titans do.
But the gods are sensing a greater threat.

Only one thing is more dangerous than a bunch of starved Titans, and that’s an out-of-control Apollyon. The aether in Josie is drawing Seth in deeper, and when lust mixes with love and gives way to power, he knows being close to her is not only dangerous to her, but to everyone around them, but letting her go requires a level of selflessness that just isn’t Seth’s style.

The paths taken in the past are becoming the roads of the future.

Just as chaos breaks out, familiar faces from the past return, complicating the already strained bond between Josie and Seth, and when the danger from the Titans erupts with devastating consequences, the dark allure of power calls to Seth again, but this time Josie might not be able to pull him back.

And when the struggle between power and love becomes the deadliest battleground, there may be no salvation.

It's no surprise to anyone who knows me how much of an enormous JLA fan. Ever since I read her debut book back in 2011 I have been obsessed. The Covenant Series is my personal favourite. I loved the characters, the action and the mythology. So to have the spin off as an older New Adult series I was excited and I adored the first one in this spin off Titan series. The Return blew me away and made me fall in love with Seth. Something that I thought I would never do back when I was reading the covenant series and totally hating on him. I couldn't wait to get my hands on the second book in the series and read some more about Seth and Josie. The Power did not disappoint. It was everything I wanted and more.

The Power was such a stunning book. It picked up right where it left off with Josie having unleashed her Demigod powers and training to be able to use them with Seth. Josie is without a doubt one of my all time favourite characters. I love that she is kick-ass but in a totally different way to Alex. She isn't tough all the time but that gives her her own unique way of being strong and I love that. Seth is... Seth! He is everything that I loved about him in the last book and more. He made some mistakes but lets face it it would be a very boring book if he didn't.

There were certain things about the book that I didn't like. There were some things happening that I felt were just too typical and obvious that happen in so many second books in the series that irritated me a little bit because I feel like it's about time some authors strayed from that rather than following the norm of what always happens. Other than that one little pet peeve this book was absolutely amazing. I loved every moment of it.

The Power was everything that I could have wanted in a book. It made me laugh and swoon and fall head over heels in love with the characters and the story. It also broke my heart into a million pieces with the ending. Jen... I love you but why do you repeatedly do this to me. I am dying to get my hands on the third book in this series. I seriously need it right now. If you haven't read this series yet what the hell are you waiting for? You need to go and get it right now. It's stunning, beautiful and one of the best wrote books I've read in a long time. I loved every moment of it.

Review: Winter (Lunar Chronicles #4)

Winter (Lunar Chronicles #4)

Genre: YA - Sci-Fi/Fairytale Retelling

From Goodreads:
Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.

Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.

Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?

"Yeah, but broken isn't the same as unfixable."

Winter was one of those books that I couldn't wait for the most. I absolutely adored all of the previous books in this series and I was so excited to see how it was all going to end in the final installment of The Lunar Chronicles. I had such high expectations of this book and Marissa Meyer surpassed all of them. Winter was absolutely phenomenal. I was so freaking excited about it and it was amazing. I loved every single second of it.

It took me quite a long time to read Winter and that has nothing to do with the book itself. It wasn't slow to get into or anything like that. It's just that this book is flipping huge! It's enormous!!! and I didn't have a whole lot of reading time at the time either.

One thing I have always loved about this series is that even though each book is another person's story we still get the stories and goings on from the other characters that we have already fell head over heels in love with. Winter was a fast paced action packed journey that had me on the end of my seat and even though I was reading very slow to savour every moment at the same time I couldn't turn the pages fast enough as I just needed to know what was going to happen.

I cannot put my love for this series in words and I was so happy to see the endings for my favourite couples. As much as I adore Cinder and Kai, Scarlet and Wolf and I fell for Winter and Jacin but my goodness Cress and Thorne are without a doubt my favourite couple in the whole series. They are just so sweet and perfect and their story will always be my favourite. I was so enamoured by everything going on that I just couldn't stop reading.

If you'd have told me a few years ago that I would me mourning over the end of a series where Cinderella is a cyborg and it's set in space and on the moon I would have laughed at you. Why? Because it's so sci-fi and sci-fi wasn't my thing. How wrong I was. This is without a doubt one of my all time favourite series and I am dying for the next book by Marissa Meyer. She has fast become one of my all time favourite authors. This series is story-telling at its best and is not to be missed.

I loved every single second. If you haven't read this series yet... what the hell are you waiting for? You need to go read this series like right now. You will not be disappointed. What a heartstopping and breath taking series and I can't wait to experience it all again when I re-read.

Review: The Halfling (Aria Fae #1)

The Halfling (Aria Fae #1)
HD Gordon

Publication Date: February 2, 2016
Date Read: January 31, 2016
Genre: YA - Fantasy / Fae

From Goodreads
Being seventeen and an outcast is hard. Being seventeen and only half human is harder.

When Aria Fae gets cast out of the Peace Brokers, a secret supernatural organization that’s trained her since infancy, and is left to fend for herself in the human world, she finds herself in Grant City, intent on attempting a normal human life.

As a Halfling, Aria has abilities that are a little underused in the flower shop she lands a job at. And when her new friend Samantha Shy enlists Aria to help investigate her mother’s death, the two girls decide to become vigilantes.

A new drug called Black Magic is running rampant in the streets of Grant City, turning people into supercharged maniacs. With Sam’s mad computer skills, and Aria’s Faevian abilities, they may be just the heroes Grant City is in need of.

Or they may find out they’re in way over their heads, and their mutual crush on the same guy is the least of their worries.

When Heather contacted me and asked if I wanted to read and review her new YA series I jumped at the chance. I have been a big fan of HD Gordon ever since I read her YA debut Blood Warrior and I adore books about the Fae so when I heard about this series and what it was about I couldn't wait to read it. I didn't really know what to expect from this book as it's been a long time since I've read anything of Heather's and I know her books would be a lot different from the ones I experienced back when she was just starting out writing but holy crap this book was amazing. I absolutely loved it and I am dying for book 2.

Aria has been left to fend for herself in the human world after spending her life training with the Peace Brokers, a secret organisation. She now is trying to live a normal human life and hiding her Halfling abilities. But can she stop trying to help people when she has the ability to when everything in Grant City turns dark?

I loved this book! Like I seriously loved everything about it. It was fast-paced and fun and I just loved the characters. I loved Aria, I loved her friends... I basically loved everything about this book. It was amazing. The friendship between Aria and Sam was such a beautiful thing to see develop. One thing I adored so much was that the book focussed more on their friendship than the love interests and I think more books need to do that. Relationships are great to read about but friendships last forever and I loved that Heather focussed on that aspect so much it made the book just so much more amazing to me.

Okay now enter the love interests. The most obvious love interest was Caleb. He's rich, sweet and funny... what could go wrong? Well nothing. Nothing could go wrong I really liked him but for me he was in the shadows for Aria's beautifully handsome and secrative neighbour Reid. I adore him. He isn't in the book quite as much as Caleb but the moments he is in I loved every scene. I am hoping for a lot more Reid moments in book 2.

One thing that I am sad about is that I read the entire book not realising that it links in with another of Heather's series. I didn't realise this until right at the end because I haven't read Heather's other series. A part of me wishes I had as I feel like I'd have felt for Aria and understood her so much better if I had so I definitely need to go back and read that other series.

The Halfling was amazing. It really touched me and I can't wait for the next book. It was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to catch up on all of Heather's other books. I loved it.

From Goodreads:
It is better to be seen and not heard…

A firm believer of observing and listening rather than adding to the noise surrounding her, Pixie has always been the quiet one out of the Archers. Her intelligence and quiet confidence makes her the perfect choice to join Garrett, Tyler and Missy on their mission to get their friends back. But when she enters the underground network run by Sebastian Black, she suddenly finds her voice. Bastian rattles her like no other, breaking her silence. He sees and hears her more than anyone has in her entire life. But how can she trust a man like him? Now it’s a battle of wills, between what her head tells her, and what her heart insists.

I was absolutely dying to get my hands on the next book in the New World Series, little did I know the wonderful Janelle Stalder was preparing two books for release. I was so not expecting this amazing novella to be released at the same time. Silence was such a surprise and it did not disappoint. I absolutely loved this novella, my one complaint would be that it was far too short.

During Underworld (which you definitely need to read before this one) I really loved the role that Pixie and Sebastian played in the story and I was so happy that Janelle has wrote this. The goings on in this novella are alongside the happenings in Underworld and I loved seeing all those events from Pixie and Sebastian's point of view.

Silence was an amazing addition to the wonderful New World series. I seriously never want this series to end and I cannot wait to read the next book. It cannot get here fast enough.

Early Review: Underground (New World #4)

Underground (New World #4)

From Goodreads:
  Love isn't something you find.
Love is something that finds you.

Phoenix has spent her whole life fighting. All she's ever wanted was to return the world to a peaceful state, and bring down the New World Order. But now she finds herself in a different sort of battle. No longer set in the streets of New Berlin, the fighting has moved beneath them, in a vicious underground fighting ring run by outlaws bent on causing trouble. And if that isn't hard enough, she's stuck with the one person who loves to fight more than she does - Trent McKay. Now the race is on to get out of their new prison and back home - before they end up killing each other.

Or worse - fall in love.

Underground is one of those books that I couldn't wait for. As soon as Janelle emailed me to ask if I would like to BETA read this for her I couldn't contain my excitement. I couldn't wait to dive in. I already had such massive expectations for this book and it suppassed all of my expectations. Underground was absolutely amazing. I loved every moment.

It has been quite a while since I read the other books in this series. I have been a big fan of Janelle's since her debut book Eden and I absolutely adore her. I soon caught back up to speed once I started reading this book. Janelle has such a great talent in her writing. She can remind you of what happened in the previous books without it feeling very repetitive. Janelle's writing style hooked me in with a matter of paragraphs and held me completely until I had devoured the entire book.

One thing that I adore about this series is that even though we cover a new couple in each book we still get to find out what is happening with the characters that we fell in love with in the previous books. I really loved getting into Phoenix and Trent's love story in this one. I'd already fell in love with both of these characters before this book so to see their story and their romance develop in this book was amazing.
