From Goodreads:
In a world in which baby girls are no longer born naturally, women are bred in schools, trained in the arts of pleasing men until they are ready for the outside world. At graduation, the most highly rated girls become “companions”, permitted to live with their husbands and breed sons until they are no longer useful.

For the girls left behind, the future – as a concubine or a teacher – is grim.

Best friends Freida and Isabel are sure they’ll be chosen as companions – they are among the most highly rated girls in their year.

But as the intensity of final year takes hold, Isabel does the unthinkable and starts to put on weight. ..
And then, into this sealed female environment, the boys arrive, eager to choose a bride.

Freida must fight for her future – even if it means betraying the only friend, the only love, she has ever known. . .

Only Ever Yours was the book everyone was gushing about and I was told that I just had to read this amazing book but to be prepared because it would break my heart. This book makes me so sad and writing this review makes me super sad too. This is the book that absolutely everyone loves... everyone but me. I don't know what it was but I just didn't connect with this book or the characters very much. It clearly just wasn't for me.

This dystopia novel sounded amazing and something I would love. I am such a massive fan of dystopia novels and I adore so many of them. Don't get me wrong I really liked the start of this book. It's very unique and different and I really liked that about it. My issue was the more that I read the more I lost interest in it. Only Ever Yours is a very dark and slightly depressive book and I got a little bit overwhelmed by it all which then turned into boredom. I just lost interest with the characters and honestly I would have DNF'd it, but I was curious enough as to what was going to happen to the characters so I continued...

I kind of wish I had DNF'd it. If you like nice happy endings then this is not the book for you. It has one of the most dark and depressing endings of any book I have possibly ever read. After finishing the book I kind of felt like what was the point in suffering through this dark and depressing book for that! I understand that not everything in life works out with a happy ending but this was just too much for me. I was highly disappointed. So many people loved this book and really I wish I were one of them but I just didn't like it very much.
