From Goodreads:
An unforgettable new series from acclaimed author Katie McGarry about taking risks, opening your heart and ending up in a place you never imagined possible.

Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns to an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.

Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They're the good guys. They protect people. They're…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club's most respected member—is in town, he's gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it's his shot at his dream. What he doesn't count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.

No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.

"No. My job is to love you."

I have been such an enormous fan of Katie McGarry ever since I was lucky enough to get a ARC of her debut novel Pushing the Limits. Ever since then I have devoured each and every book she has ever released and I have adored them all. There are no words to explain my utter excitement when she revealed that she was releasing a whole new series, completely separate from the Pushing the Limits series. I genuinely could not wait to get my hands on it. It was going to be completely epic... not Pushing the Limits epic but epic....... I was kinda right and kinda wrong. Yes, it was EPIC! But I never thought any of Katie's books could quite challenge the love I have for her first book Pushing the Limits. I'm sorry Noah and Echo but I have a new favourite Katie McGarry book. Nowhere But Here completely blew me away and it is definitely my new favourite.

Nowhere But Here was absolutely amazing. I genuinelly loved every moment of it. This book is definitely a journey and I loved coming along for this journey. From Emily finding out the truth of her fathers actions and starting to come to grips with that as well as her budding romance with the one person she did not want to have a romance with. Emily goes through such a transformation in this book. From the sheltered perfect girl to the strong, independent and fierce girl she is at the end. I have always loved books where you can clearly see the character growth throughout the book and this is definitely one of them.

Enter Oz. I absolutely adore Oz. The guy who is given the job of protecting Emily while she is visiting and making sure she is safe from the evil of the rival motocycle gang he never expects to fall for her. He just wants to do him job and prove his loyalty to the Reign of Terror. But sparks fly between them. Oz is the epitome of the bad boy. He wears leather, rides a motercycle and wants in on the Reign of Terror but the twist of this book is that actually the bad boys are the good guys. He is the sweetest, gentlest and most adorable fictional guy I have possibly ever come across. The more I read, the more I loved him.

Nowhere But Here was the perfect contemporary novel in my opinion. It had everything that I have come to expect from a Katie McGarry book. Romance, suspense and action. The thing I loved about this book so much is that although it has all of the typical elements of a YA Contemporary novel it just had that something different. It has that something that sets it apart from all the others out there and this difference was so important and special to me as I've been waiting years for a contemp book that does this instead of going with the norm. Curious? Well... I'm not gonna tell you what that difference is because that would be a major spoiler so you're just gonna have to go and read it in order to find out.

Nowhere But Here was brilliant and I absolutely loved every moment of it. It was amazing. Completely stunning and phenomenal. I cannot wait for the second book in the Thunder Road series to come out. One thing is for certain. It's going to be epic!

"I said the prettiest girl here, Emily. You're the only girl around here who fits that description."

  1. I liked this book. I didn't love it, though. I prefer her other series. I just didn't feel that connection between Oz and Emily like I should have (like I do between McGarry's characters in her PTL series). Don't get me wrong, I still gave it a 4 because I love her writing and I liked the story. But I did find myself comparing it to Sons of Anarcy, which I recently finished watching. So that may have taken away from it for me.
