Gates of Thread and Stone was one of the books that I downloaded after trying to find some more awesome fantasy books. I never used to be a fan of fantasy and only got into them a few years ago after trying, and adoring, Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas. Since then I've been trying to find more fantasy books. I have found some that I have loved, and some that I have not. Unfortunately Gates of Thread and Stone was one of those that I did not.

To be honest I can't really say whether I would have put this one down had I been reading it and not listening to the audio. I might have given it more of a chance but for the audio edition I was just super bored. The storyline and world building did not grab me at all and all I kept thinking about was other books and books I have on my shelf to read that I haven't yet got to. With this feeling and adding tot he fact that some of the things the main heroine said was just utterly stupid and irritating I just couldn't finish this book.

If you are big fantasy fan you will probably love this but it just wasn't for me unfortunately.
