Alice Through the Zombie Glass was probably one of my most anticipated reads. I read Alice in Zombieland last year and fell in love with it. With it being my first book by Gena Showalter it made me an absolute fan. Alice Through the Zombie Glass was everything I could have wanted... though parts of it I didn't particularly like.


Alice has lost a life... but gained another. Determined to fight the zombies that destroyed her family Alice puts herself in danger everyday. But when the one stable thing in her life, her boyfriend Cole, starts withdrawing from her with no explanation why her new life starts unravelling before her eyes. Add that to the fact that there is a darkness growing inside of Alice things just got a whole lot more complicated. Can she fight the darkness pulsing to get out and salvage her relationship with Cole?


Okay first of all I'm gonna have my little rant and here is your SPOILER ALERT!
Dear Authors,
Please note that you DO NOT have to break couples up in the second book for there to be a story. Like seriously it's one of my pet hates! It makes me feel like the author doesn't think their story is strong enough so they must split their characters up to make it more interesting. It does NOT make me want to keep reading it makes me want to put the book down and never pick it back up. I very nearly put this book down and if it wasn't for the encouragement from my friends who had already read this I probably would have.

Alice Through the Zombie Glass threw me right back into this addictive world of spirit zombies and slayers and it was like I'd never been away. Gena has this incredible talent of subtly reminding you what happened in the previous book so it feels like you have just read it and all of it is fresh in your mind... and she does it without it feeling repetitive. I adore Gena's writing style and it completely captured you from the start.

Alice is without a doubt one of my favourite heroines in a YA series ever. She is vulnerable and shows weakness but never once feels needs or like she is moaning. She takes all the horrible things happening to her and just takes it on, head on. I love her for that.

Cole... oh Cole I love you but I hate you. I AM SO DAMN MAD AT YOU! Cole takes the dive into stupidsville in Alice Through the Zombie Glass. The majority of his scenes I was seething at him wanting to jump in the book and strangle him and yell at him to stop being stupid. All of the scenes with Cole and Alice together I just wanted to bang their damn heads together!

One thing that I got frustrated at with this book is, my spoilery rant up there ^, and the fact that something happens and to the reader it is obvious what it means and NONE OF THE CHARACTERS SEE IT! I was literally yelling at the book going DUH CONNECT THE DOTS IDIOT! *takes a deep breath* yeah it frustrated the life out of me!

Alice Through the Zombie Glass is perfect in all the ways that count. It focused more on the storyline than the romance and I love that. Don't get me wrong I am so a romance girl but seriously I love books where the love story takes a back seat and this one does. Alice Through the Zombie Glass has all of the feels going on. I went through love to anger to despair to heartache back to anger and frustration and back to love. It's such an emotional rollercoaster but it's fantastic. It's packed full on action and it will steal your heart and take your breath away. It was fantastic.
