Welcome to yet another Spensations feature and this time we have the incredibly awesome Keshia Swaim with us talking about her upcoming book Blood Bound.
Check it out...

Genre: YA - Paranormal
Starting college a year early is hard. Starting fae college and learning to protect the world from the Unseelie is harder.
Brielle Reed has always been an over-achiever, but this time she may have bitten off more than she can chew. Between her crash course in fae politics, struggles to control her new mind-reading ability, training sessions with the demanding Dr. Schwartz, and discoveries about the father who is still a mystery to her, Brielle finds herself longing for a chance at a normal life.
But she may not get that chance. Or chance at a life at all, for that matter.
Oh. My. Gosh! There are no words to explain just how crazy excited I am for this book. It just sounds absolutely epic and I have been dying to find a new Fae series for me to get lost in. I cannot wait to read this book!
Now please give a big Spensations welcome to the woman herself... Keshia Swaim
Thank you for being here on K-Books and joining me for this feature.
Well I am such a massive fan of Spencer Hill Press, including the new imprints Spence City and Spencer Hill Contemporary. What’s it like being a part of the amazing Spencer Hill Press family?
It’s awesome. I love how we all get excited for each other’s successes.
So you have a book, Blood Bound coming out with Spencer Hill Press in September. How excited are you about releasing it into the world?
Honestly, there are no words. Growing up, authors were my “rock stars.” Actually becoming one was always a dream, but really doing it is so cool!
So talk us through your typical writing routine.
Ha. I have a toddler (and a baby due this month!) so “typical” doesn’t exist. My basic routine is daydreaming about my characters until naptime, then writing like crazy until my son wakes up.
Is there any particular character that you enjoyed writing more than others?
I loved Pamie. She wasn’t actually even a part of my initial storyline, but then she popped in, fully developed, and demanded that I paid attention to her.
Are there any particular scenes that you enjoy writing more than others?
Without giving too much away, I really liked the dream sequence when Brielle is able to talk to her father.
So your book is about Fae what inspired you to write about this?
I’ve always loved the Fae. The idea of a separate realm next to ours just has so many possibilities.
So Blood Bound mixes Fae mythology and mind-reading abilities. Are they both something you had an interest in and wanted to explore further?
The mind is so powerful. I’ve always been interested in what “might” be possible. And the Fae are just fun, in a mystical, older than time sort of way.
So I love Fae books and I have two favourites. Iron Fey by Julie Kagawa for YA and Fever by Karen Marie Moning for Adult. What are your favourites?
The Iron Fey is definitely a great series. I also love Kiersten White’s Paranormalcy trilogy and Kiki Hamilton’s The Faerie Ring, to name a few. But honestly, I can’t pick a favorite.
Blood Bound is categorized as the Fantasy genre. What made you decide to write in this genre?
Well, I live in reality, and I’ve noticed that it can get rather dull. ☺ Writing is an escape for me, so I escape to a fantasy realm where I get to make the rules.
So are there any inside information or sneak-peaks that you can give us?
I can do even better! Spencer Hill Press has released “Family Ties” the short story that spawned Blood Bound, as a FREE DOWNLOAD. Check it out to meet Brielle, Alex, Dr. Schwartz and more.
**Follow THIS LINK and click on Family Ties.
And finally what can we expect from you in the future after Blood Bound?
Oh, there will definitely be more books (and short stories!). Hopefully, I’ll be able to continue Brielle’s word for a little while, and then I’ll create a whole new world and start over!
