From Goodreads:
The personification of Aryan purity, Ellyssa's spent her whole life under her creator's strict training and guidance; her purpose is to eradicate inferior beings. She was genetically engineered to be the perfect soldier: strong, intelligent, unemotional, and telepathic.
Only Ellyssa isn't perfect.
Ellyssa feels emotions--a fact she's spent her life concealing. Until she encounters the epitome of inferiority: a dark-haired boy raised among renegades hiding since the Nazis won the war a century ago. He speaks to her telepathically, pushing thoughts into her mind, despite the impossibility of such a substandard person having psychic abilities.
But he does.
His unspoken words and visions of a place she's never visited make Ellyssa question her creator. Confused and afraid her secret will be discovered, Ellyssa runs away, embarking on a journey where she discovers there is more to her than perfection

There are no words to explain how crazy excited I am to get my hands on this book. I am already a huuuuuge fan of dystopia but hearing about this book set in a dystopia society but where the Nazi's won the war... the idea is scarey... and mindblowing! I cannot wait to get my hands on it and read it. I just know it is going to be epic!
ARCs... please hurry up!

Now please give a massive welcome to JL Spelbring...

Hi Judy
Thank you for being here on K-Books and joining me for this feature.

Beyond delighted!!

Well I am such a massive fan of Spencer Hill Press, including the new imprints Spence City and Spencer Hill Contemporary. What’s it like being a part of the amazing Spencer Hill Press family?

Words can never express how lucky I feel being part of the Spencer Hill Press family. I am truly blessed.

Kate, Vikki, and Rich (just to name a few) have been extremely supportive and... have been beacon in the times when I wandered around in the dark.

Then there are the amazing authors. Nothing is better than joining forces with them and helping each other.

I have a mountain of gratitude in my backyard with their names printed all over it.

So you have a book, Perfection coming out with Spencer Hill Press on July 16th. How excited are you about releasing Perfection into the world?

Excited doesn’t even begin to express. More like ecstatic. Rapturous. Euphoric.

Writing, editing, finding an agent, finding a publisher, more editing. It’s a long, long road to travel. But one well worth the footsteps.

Talk us through your usual writing routine.

Diet coke and jammies. Oh, and when I’m cold, a fuzzy blanket.

Reread what I wrote the day before, fix all the horrendous mistakes, then start clack, clack, clacking away on the keyboard.

That’s my secret formula.

Is there any particular character that you enjoyed writing more than others?

Aalexis. Aalexis is dark...and a little creepy. I’m a fan of the dark and the creepy.

Are there any particular scenes that you enjoy writing more than others?

I really enjoyed the scenes of Ellyssa’s self discovery, the capacity within her to grow.

So Perfection is set in a world where the Nazi’s won the way. What inspired you to write about that?

My daughter, Trista, and I came up with the concept. Mostly just playing idea pong.

I find it completely fascinating and new. I for one haven’t come across any books quite like this one. Perfection also included genetic engineering. Is this a topic of interest for you?

It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a geek. I find it utterly fascinating all the possible outcomes that could/might happen if we could genetically engineer genes. When someone plays god.

The chaos that would follow when someone thinks they have complete control.

Think Jurassic Park.

Perfection is categorized as the Dystopia genre. What made you decide to write in this genre?

Actually, PERFECTION has a mixture of several genres; dystopia, sci-fi, paranormal, romance, action, to name the main components.

But with the control of the government in place, Dystopian describes it the best.

So is there any inside information or sneak-peaks that you can give us?

Sure! Hmm. Maybe an excerpt.

A wet trail coasted over the contour of Ellyssa’s cheek, before disappearing with a swipe of Rein’s thumb. Surprised, she blinked as Rein’s palm cupped the side of her face. Never had anyone touched her face with gentleness and warmth. No impulse to pull away surged through her body. No urge to fight. Amazed by her own reaction, her desire, she reached up and grasped his hand. The tenderness of the gesture felt alien...and wonderful.

And finally what can we expect from you in the future after Perfection?

PERFECTION is part of a trilogy. Next year around this time, FLAWED should be released, which continues the story of Ellyssa and Rein and their comrades, plus gives a closer insight to Aalexis and Xavier psychological mentality.

Book three is yet named, and the words of the story are waiting in the dark little recesses of mind, ready to sprout from my fingertips.

I’m also working on another science fiction. Think Sleeping Beauty meets Dreamscape and they both shake hands with The Cell.

They all sound awesome. I will definitely be reading all of them!
