Sun Dwellers Book Blast

Today I am participating in the Book Blast for the Sun Dwellers. The Sun dwellers is the third book in the Dwellers series, written by the amazing David Estes. It is a dystopia series about a world were everyone lives under the ground. I also have to say it's one of my favourite dystophia series and David Estes is not only a good writer he is also an amazing person.

First I want to show the covers for this series (which you probably have already seen, but still :p)

The Moon Dwellers (The Dwellers #1)
The Star Dwellers (The Dwellers #2)
The Sun Dwellers (The Dwellers #3)
And today is the release day of the Sun Dwellers and today it will be priced at $.99 and the first two books in the series also will be on sale for $.99. So if you want to read this series head over to amazon and buy them!

I also have a quote for you from my beta read review of the sun dwellers:
"There are some very surprising twists and turns. And the ending is awesome! I can’t wait to read what David writes next! "

I also have a quest post by the amazing David Estes, but first a bit about David himself:
David Estes was born in El Paso, Texas but moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania when he was very young. David grew up in Pittsburgh and then went to Penn State for college. Eventually he moved to Sydney, Australia where he met his wife. A reader all his life, he began writing novels for the children's and YA markets in 2010, and started writing full time in June 2012. Now he travels the world writing with his wife, Adele. David's a writer with OCD, a love of dancing and singing (but only when no one is looking or listening), a mad-skilled ping-pong player, and prefers writing at the swimming pool to writing at a table.

And now it's time for the quest post by David Estes about being an indie author and what his day looks like:

The life of a fulltime Indie author
by David Estes

I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately, both from other Indie (or soon to be Indie) authors, about what I do and how I do it, so I thought I’d share a bit about my life now that I’m a fulltime Indie author.

Well, the first thing I want to share is something I don’t do. I don’t spend all my time writing books. Yeah, I’m a “fulltime writer” who doesn’t write fulltime. Honestly, it’s weird. I probably write about the same amount as I did when I was holding down a fulltime job in addition to writing books. It makes no sense and yet it’s true. Despite having full days to dedicate to writing books, they disappear so quickly I’m left wondering where they went. So what do I do every day?

In a nutshell, a bit of everything. As an Indie author, I’m responsible for the creation, publishing, and marketing of my books from start to finish. That’s a heck of a lot of work and it only gets harder as you write more books and gain more readers. When I wake up in the morning, I have a quick breakfast and then start writing. Every writer has a time when they find writing the easiest and most productive. For me it’s the morning. I usually write for at least three hours. During the third hour, my amazingly supportive wife, Adele, brings me a coffee to ensure I finish strong, and also to remind me that I’m ignoring her and that I can’t sit there and write the entire day away (although occasionally I do when I’m nearing completion of a book—Adele makes an exception for that).

Next I spend at least an hour managing my “book stuff”. That might include responding to reader or Indie author questions, managing giveaways, having fun on Goodreads, corresponding with my beta readers, copy editor, cover artist, or marketing team, writing guest posts, doing author interviews, etc etc etc. The list goes on and on as to what is included in “book stuff”. I could spend all day on the stuff, but I try to cut it off after no more than an hour.

Adele and I have lunch together every day. A little more book stuff after lunch and then we spend time together doing something fun, going to the beach, sightseeing in whatever country we happen to be in, playing tennis—you get the picture. It’s quality time as husband and wife. An extremely important part of being an Indie. You can’t let writing books take over your life or you’ll forget to live it.

Whenever we finish with our activities, it’s back to book stuff for at least an hour, then dinner, always with Adele. I usually spend the early evening working on publishing related activities, like formatting my books for Kindle, print, Nook and Smashwords, repricing books, tracking sales, editing, and revising. At some point I watch a bit of TV with Adele, while still working via my iPhone, usually fan mail and Goodreads stuff. She goes to bed earlier than me and I keep working on whatever project I’m in the middle of, maybe have a late call with my marketing team to organize the next book release. When I get tired enough to sleep, I pull out my Kindle, read a good book for a half hour and go to sleep. That’s it. A long day in which I enjoy every minute. Then I do it all over again the next day. I rarely take a day off, which includes the writing bit. If I had to guess, I probably write 330-340 days a year averaging close to 3,000 words. It’s intense, but like anything in life, you have to practice and keep at it to be successful.

Although I am pretty much always “working”, I wouldn’t trade my life as a fulltime Indie author for anything. It’s what I am meant to do, what I’ll always do. I’m so thankful to the many readers who have supported me and given me the chance to do what I love. I will always be in your debt.

I think it's interesting to know that there is so much book stuff except for writing the book that you have to do as an Indie author.

So that's it for this Book Blast! I hope you enjoyed the quest post and don't forget to buy the Moon Dwellers and the Star Dwellers if you want, today only for $.99!

Word and Breath review

Word and Breath (Wordless Chronicles #1)
Susannah Noel

Publication Date: Augustus 31, 2012
Finish Date: November 29, 2012
Format: e-book
Source: review copy  from author

From Goodreads: Riana has learned how to stay out of trouble. She spends her days studying written texts in the government’s Office of Readers, and she spends her nights taking care of her sick sister. She always—always—follows the rules. Despite her low profile, she has mysteriously become a target. Someone has kidnapped her sister. Someone else is trying to kill her. And someone has sent a Soul-Breather to beguile her out of her secrets.

Her help comes from the mythic leader of an underground rebel movement. A man who used to be her friend. A man who has silently loved her for years. He disappeared from her life without a word, and now he expects her to trust him again.

Then there’s the Soul-Breather, a man who can taste her spirit with only a touch. He makes her feel things she’s never experienced before, but she doesn’t know if the feelings are real. Hired to deceive and betray her, he offers to help her instead.

Without both men, she can’t rescue her sister. And she can’t discover the world-changing knowledge—buried in her memory—that has made her a target in the first place.

I finished word and breath in one day, the story is fast paced and interesting. For once the main girl is actually just a normal person, who tries to mind her own business and doens't try to attract attention. Until that all changes.

The story is interesting and original. However the first few chapters feel a bit rushed and it takes some time before the story get's really good. The story is written very well and I liked seeing the perspective from more than one person, the book is written by multiple perspecitives and i think this really adds to the story!

The characters were likeable and mostly acted very believeable and in-character. Although the falling in love part could've done a bit better, because it is practically told they fall in love and I would've loved to experience this together with the characters, which unfortunately doens't happen. This only concerns the beginning of the story and later on the love is developed very well. I did like getting to know the multiple characters and getting a good idea what their motives and values are. Also there is a sort of love triangle, but it is worked out very believeable.

The world building is very interesting, although it is a world in which I wouldn't want to live. There aren't many people who can read and reading isn't encouraged. On the other hand I did like the focus this placed on those who can read and their importance. I think it's original to base a dystophia world on this, but I did feel like there should've been more world building. It isn't entirely clear what happened to the world to make it this way and the focus is only on a small portion of the world. I had no idea what the rest of the world is like, although there where made a few comments about this, I would've liked it if the world building was more eleborate.

To conclude: an interesting an original story. I liked the multiple perspectives and the characters. The world building could've done a bit more elaborate, but I really enjoyed reading it and am looking forward to the next book.

Blog Tour : Hellsbane (Hellsbane #1) by Paige Cuccaro

Hey guys,
I am so excited to be a part of the blog tour for Hellsbane, the first book in the Hellsbane series by Paige Cuccaro. I was lucky enough to be part of the blog tour for the prequel Commencement as well but I have yet to read any of the books in this series. I cannot wait to get started though as this series just sounds phenomenal. Check it out...

Commencement (Hellsbane #0.5)
Paige Cuccaro

Published By: Entangled Publishing
Publication Date: September 27, 2012
Genre: New Adult - Urban Fantasy

From Goodreads
Hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn for frat guys…

Emma Jane Hellsbane knows something evil is worming its way through her college campus—she can feel it. Literally. Her freakish ability to feel other people’s emotions as though they were her own has always been monumentally awkward, and it’s easier for her to just pretend it doesn’t exist. But this time her paranormal ability just might help her save lives.

Emma Jane’s fairly certain that whatever the hateful, egomaniacal, Godlike thing is, it’s set up shop inside her boyfriend, the frat boy/soccer star Justin. And if she doesn’t figure a way to get it out of him soon, Justin’s soul will be the appetizer to the main course—the whole student body. Problem is, the big baddy is granting sinister wishes, and with each one the risks grow higher and the phrase Be careful what you wish for becomes a real-life dire warning. Of course for Emma, what feels like it could be the end is in fact just the beginning…

Hellsbane (Hellsbane #1)
Paige Cuccaro

Published By: Entangled Publishing
Publication Date: November 20, 2012
Genre: New Adult - Urban Fantasy

From Goodreads:
Twenty-three-year-old Emma Jane Hellsbane just found out she’s not human—or, at least, not only human. She’s half angel, too, and now Heaven’s got a job for her: round up all the Fallen angels and their red-skinned, horned devil-demon minions and boot their butts back into the abyss. Only problem? The demons and their Fallen masters fight back…and they don’t fight fair.

Luckily for Emma, she can put a stop to the constant threat of having her head hacked off if she figures out which Fallen angel is her father—and then kill him before he kills her. Of course, in the meantime, she’ll have to avoid accidentally seducing her angelic mentor, help an old friend conquer his own Fallen sperm donor, and basically save the world from a cataclysmic divine smack down.

No one said being Heaven’s bounty hunter would be easy. But with a name like Hellsbane, Emma Jane was born for the job.

Sounds awesome doesn't it? I seriously cannot wait to start this series it just sounds absolutely incredible.

Now I have an exclusive excerpt from Hellsbane for you.....

Tommy was at my feet, standing at the end of the bed I was lying on. I
couldn’t see who was holding my hand without turning my head, but I knew
he was male by the brush of hair on his forearm, the muscle, the
“She’ll learn,” my hand holder said. “If she wants to live.”
That did it. I opened my eyes.
“Hello, Emma Jane.”
The man was…stunning. Beautiful, even. Flawless skin, pale blue eyes,
and silky black hair. And he was staring straight at me, as though he
knew I’d been faking sleep for a while. I took my hand back.
“Hey.” I swallowed. My throat felt like Hell’s drainage pipe, dry as
baked dirt. I licked my lips, my sluggish brain making a leap in logic.
“Are you…are you Father Eli?”
“Eli. Please,” he said, and blinked lashes so long and black, they had
no business being on a man.
I couldn't stop staring, so I did my best not to look mentally impaired
while I gawked. This priest was tall, maybe six-seven, six-eight. His
blue-black hair hung in waves, brushing across his forehead, little
swirls curling around his ear and over his collar.
His face was oval with a sharp, smooth-shaven jaw, high cheekbones, and
a delicate, straight nose that gave him a kind of feminine
prettiness—but he was solid male.
He lowered his head and smiled up at me through those impossibly long
lashes. The expression crinkled the corners of glacial blue eyes.
Figures he’d be a priest.

EEP! I literally cannot wait to start this book. Awesome right?!?! So what are you waiting for? Go get this series!!

  Author Bio
Writing was never a foregone conclusion for me. I once had dreams of being a psychologist, a pediatrician, a school teacher, a photojournalist, a bartender, and/or an EMT. And then I met my husband and my world came into focus. Being wife and mother are my highest priorities and greatest joy. But escaping to the fanciful, sexy worlds twirling through my mind is an absolute necessity. Putting those worlds, and the cornucopia of characters that people them, on paper is just plain fun.
Paige lives in Ohio, with her husband, three daughters, three dogs, three cats, a parakeet and a bearded dragon named Rexy, in an ever shrinking house. When she’s not writing she can be found doing the mom thing with a book in one hand and a notepad and pen in the other. Ideas come without warning and the best way to stimulate your imagination is to enjoy the imagination of someone else.

Cover reveal of Unmasking Maya

Today I am participating in the cover reveal of Unmasking Maya by Libby Mercer. I got this book for review some time ago and have already read it. I will post my review on the release day, 15 december. Today I will show you the cover:

The cover isn't at all what I expected and I think it has a different feel than the book. So to be honest I am glad I didn't saw the cover before reading book. I do think it's funny that the female on the cover seems to be in disguise and the title contains the word unmasking. So what do you think of this cover?

Blog Tour: ReAwakened (Angel Creek #2)

Hey guys,
I am so excited to be on the blog tour for the phenomenal second book in the Angel Creek series, ReAwakened. This series was my series of the month in October. I just adore this series and it is one of my all time favourites. I was so lucky to betaread this for Ada and let me tell you I had virtually no feedback because this book is just perfect!

ReAwakened (Angel Creek #2)
Ada Adams

Publication Date: November 27, 2012
Date Read: November 3, 2012
Genre: YA - Paranormal - Vampires
Source: Beta-Read Copy from Ada Adams
Format: E-Book
From Goodreads:
Becoming a vampire guardian was Dawn Fairchild’s ticket out of the Scarlet House. Fresh off a successful mission, life in Angel Creek should have been great. But when her sort-of-maybe-boyfriend, Sebastian, disappears on a quest to help a beautiful vampire from his past, Dawn finds herself amidst a web of danger, lies, and deceit.

Joining forces with Razor, an enigmatic rebel lacking both a verbal and a physical filter, and her band of Misfits—Brooke, Sophie, Hunter, and Seth—Dawn is thrust into a race against the clock to solve the mystery surrounding brutal Born kidnappings and come to terms with the sudden discovery of her own unique powers. With time ticking away and Born vampires’ lives in jeopardy, it quickly becomes evident that someone—or something—desperately wants Dawn and is willing to shed any amount of blood to get her.

Dawn has only one chance to face her demons and overcome all obstacles standing in her way as she embarks on the biggest mission of her life—one that threatens a deadly outcome for all involved.

WOW! There are literally no words to explain just how phenomenal this book is. There is no way I thought that ReAwakened would beat ReVamped but I was completely proved wrong. Right from the first page I was sucked back into this incredible vampiric world and I couldn't put it down until I had finished the book and I was left reeling dying for more.

Dawn and the gang have finally become the Guardians of Angel Creek. After the danger and trouble they went through to get to this point they are looking forward to just having a relaxing time. But things are never easy in Angel Creek. When Born Vampires start mysteriously disappearing Dawn will do anything to find out what is happening and is determined to help in any way that she can. But will she be able to help without risking the life of hers and her teams?

I was completely and utterly sucked into this book and I just couldn't put it down. When I read the first book in this series, ReVamped, I was completely shocked and surprised. After reading a lot of vampire books I was getting a little bored with them but I just couldn't help but love this unique world that Ada had created and I just love her writing style. ReAwakened was no different. It ws just as obsessive and addictive and I just didn't care what I had to do I refused to put the book down until I was done. I just adore these characters and I couldn't possibly stop reading until I found out what was going to happen to them.

Dawn is such an amazing character. I love her, she is strong and tough and just a genuinelly amazing kick-ass character. Saying that she needed a good damn shake in this book. As much as I love her she really annoyed me a little with the keeping secrets from Sebastian. I just wanted to reach into the book and give her a shake and tell her to just tell him! I understand why she did it but it still irritated the life out of me. I do think that Dawn grew a lot as a character and that she is a stronger more confident person by the end of ReAwakened. I cannot wait to read book 3 in the series and wait to see what happens with Dawn next.

Sebastian... Oh My Lord *insert dreamy sigh here* I just love him. He is hot... and I mean HAWT!!! and he is so sweet and protective and there is nothing this guy could do that I would not find completely and utterly swoonworthy. Every Seb scene my insides just melt into a puddle! I just adore him!
What I also really loved is that we saw a lot more of Hunter and I just love him. We found out so much more about Hunter and he totally made me melt and I just adore him. We were also introducted to new character Razor and I love him. He is cheeky and a total bad boy! I think every girl will fall head over heels in love with Razor and I cannot wait to read more about him.

This book is full of so many twists and turns that will leave you gasping, unable to believe what the hell just happened. I just could not put this book down. It was phenomenal and I am left completely gobsmacked and reeling. I just need book 3 right now. I MUST find out what happens next. ReAwakened completely surpassed all my expectations and more. I was just shocked and surprised in an incredibly good way. If you want a book full of suspense, action and a dash of romance this series is not to be missed out on! A must-read.

And now I am incredibly excited to welcome my favourite character Sebastian.
Hey Sebastian and welcome to K-Books. Thanks for joining us today.
Thanks for having me, Kayleigh.

So first of all what did you think when you saw Dawn for the first time?
For a brief moment, I thought that she was a ghost form my past. Then she opened her mouth and raised her fists, and I was immediately proven wrong. Right away, I knew that she was someone very special. One of a kind. Even though I tried to stay away, I couldn’t fight my desire to get to know everything about her.

I really love you and Dawn together so are you finally going to admit your feelings for each other?
I love us together too. It hasn’t been an easy road so far, especially not for Dawn. I’ve had to work hard to peel away the tough protective layers she keeps around herself, but I think that she’s finally ready to let me in. I’ve also tried my best to be more open with her. I just wish she knew that I’d never let anything in the world hurt her.

Why are you always pushing her away to protect her? I get the protectiveness but do you not think she’s kind of capable of protecting herself?
My protectiveness over Dawn is an instinct I’m unable to control. I’m not proud of it—it gets me in a lot of trouble! I definitely think that she can take care of herself. She’s proven her self-reliance on more than one occasion. She’s even come to my rescue. I just can’t bear to watch her put herself in danger and do nothing, knowing that she could get hurt. I think we both need to work on protecting each other as a team, instead of always trying to take on our demons individually to spare each other.

So let’s talk about Aurora, do you think your relationship was healthy?
No, it wasn’t. For many reasons, especially considering the newest revelation about her forta. But when you’re in an unhealthy relationship, it’s hard to see how bad it is for you until you take a step back and evaluate it. Most people never do, unless something drastic happens.

Do you still love her?
I don’t. To tell you the truth, I’m still processing a lot of what happened between us. How much of it was actually real?

And finally can you give us a little sneak peak of what’s to come for you, Dawn and the rest?
Unfortunately, at this point, I think that only Ada has that power. I have my hopes and wishes, though…

Thank you so much for being here on K-Books, I love you ;)

Isn't he amazing? I am totally in love with him! Now you see... you have to read this series GO! GO! GO!
