Blog Tour: No Flowers Required by Cari Quinn

Hey guys,
I'm so excited to be on the blog tour for the new Entangled Brazen book No Flowers Required.

No Flowers Required (Love Required #2)
Cari Quinn

Publisher: Entangled Publishing - Brazen Imprint
Publication Date: August 23, 2012
Genre: Adult - Contemporary Romance

From Goodreads:
He’ll give her everything she desires...except his identity.

Flower shop owner Alexa Conroy had it all before the recession hit and her customers fled to cheaper shopping grounds. Desperate to make ends meet, she sells her dream home and moves into the rundown apartments above her shop. When she spots six feet of sexy distraction—complete with muscles, piercings, and tattoos—ripping up flooring, Alexa knows the karmic windfall she’s due just landed on her doorstep.
And the attraction’s definitely not one-sided.

Dillon James, reluctant heir to the corporation about to foreclose on Alexa’s shop, is not about to jeopardize their scorching chemistry by admitting he’s not the building’s handyman. But with only weeks until her business goes under and his identity is revealed, Dillon must find a way to convince Alexa cooperation isn’t a dirty word, help her save the shop from his brother’s greed, and persuade her that he’s not the enemy...or risk losing the only woman who’s seen the real him.

I was lucky enough to get this book for review from Entangled I absolutely loved it. You can check out my review HERE.

Hi Cari and thanks for being here on K-Books today.
Thanks so much for having me and for taking the time to read and review my books! I really appreciate it! J
First of all when did you first discover you wanted to be an author?
Hmm, probably grade school. I was in fourth grade when I started trying to write a book with a friend. It took me until I was 31 to finish a book, but I finally got there!
A lot of the book that you have out so far are contemporary romances, did you always want to write in this genre?
Yes, since it’s the genre I read the most. I occasionally drift to other genres but I always return to contemporary. It’s fun to see people who are like me in some ways yet different in others find their own happily ever after.
What genre of books do you enjoy reading?
Mainly contemporary, though I enjoy paranormals and suspense on occasion as well. Lately I’ve been on a YA kick. Those are my favorite books at the moment, especially NA—new young adults. As someone who hadn’t picked up a YA since I *was* a YA (which wasn’t yesterday, lol) I’m kind of surprised that I’m enjoying them so much. But a lot of the themes in today’s YA books really resonate even for adults.
Do you have any authors that you look up to or that inspired you?
So many, but the number one will always be Nora Roberts. She’s been my writing idol since I read my first book of hers at age 14. Not only is she extremely talented and driven, she also represents romance in a positive way. She’s practically the patron goddess of romance writers!
Now… your book No Flowers required has just come out. What was the inspiration behind this story?
No Flowers Required came about due to a trip to a hardware store. I admit to loving them way too much for a woman that can barely hammer a nail. One day last spring, I was roaming the aisles and mulling over the ideas I had for No Flowers Required—which weren’t many, to that point. Then the idea of a chain of hardware stores with two very different brothers at the helm popped into my head, and from there Dillon and Cory were born. After that it was just a matter of discovering what kind of sparks Alexa and Dillon would create…which was a lot of fun!
I thought it was brilliant. Do you take any personal experiences and adapt them to your books?
Thanks so much! J I don’t write about too many personal experiences. Fragments of personality traits from people I know might slip in now and then, but what I borrow the most from real life are names! Some of my former coworkers might be surprised to see their names in my books. Alexa’s last name, for example, came from one of my coworkers at my last job.
Is there any scenes that you enjoy writing more than others?
Yes…and it’s guilty secret time. My favorite scenes are almost always the bromance scenes where male friends—or in No Flowers Required, brothers—sit around and talk smack about each other. The thing I miss most about my former day job is listening to the guys insult each other. Men have a very unique way of communicating and I think I had an excellent education in developing an ear for the way men speak when they think women aren’t listening.
And what can we expect to see from you in the future?
I’m fortunate to have several upcoming releases to look forward to! Among them, the first book in my Firefighters of Battle Creek, Twice Burned, should be releasing in not too long. Also, No Romance Required, book three in the Love Required series—Cory’s story—should be out this winter. I’m really excited about both stories!
Getting to know the author – Quick Fire Round
Hardcopy or E-Book? E-book all the way! I barely read paper books anymore.
Bookmark or Dog-Ear? Bookmark. Back when I read paper books, I couldn’t stand to damage them in any way.
Chocolate or Vanilla? Chocolate and vanilla swirl is my favorite!
Summer or Winter? Hmm, tough one. I like Fall the best so I guess I’ll go with Summer, though I don’t like a lot of endless heat and sunshine.
Ice-cream or Cake?  Ice cream. I’m not too much of a cake eater, but I can’t get enough ice cream.
Coffee or Tea? Coffee all the way (though I love iced tea!)
Thanks so much for being here on K-Books today and good luck for your future titles.
