From Goodreads:I've read this book twice now (I almost never re-read books, so that already means something) and both times I really loved this book! This book again proves to me that Kelley Armstrong is a great author. The way she gives us a little piece each time of the greater plot it just makes me want to keep reading to know what more is there. I just couldn't put this book down, it's such a great book!
Strange things are happening in Maya's tiny Vancouver Island town. First, her friend Serena, the captain of the swim team, drowns mysteriously in the middle of a calm lake. Then, one year later, mountain lions are spotted rather frequently around Maya's homeand her reactions to them are somewhat . . . unexpected. Her best friend, Daniel, has also been experiencing unexplainable premonitions about certain people and situations.
It doesn't help that the new bad boy in town, Rafe, has a dangerous secret, and he's interested in one special part of Maya's anatomyher paw-print birthmark.
What I really like about this book is the scenery, Maya grows up in a small town surrounded by forest. I would love to live in a place like that and I really like reading about it. I don't know why, but a nice environment can already make the book so much better.
Another great thing about this book is the story. It is just great and it makes me want to keep reading so I can find out more. I just want to know what is going to happen. Kelley Armstrong creates so many questions in this book, and she doens't anshwer them all at once but we get them bit for bit. And that's another thing that keeps me reading, wanting to know more, get more explanation.
I also love the characters. Maya is such a great lead character, she is strong, funny and even recognnizes her own faults, this makes her a really strong character in my eyes. I also really liked Daniel, her best friend. He is someone everyone should have as a best friend. He really cares for Maya and is always there for her, protecting her and helping her. When re-reading it I also realizes that I didn't really trust Rafe at first, but slowly I did like him more. I really want to know more about these characters.
To conclude: I love this book, great story, great scenery and great characters. I love how the author creates all those questions and just answeres a few of them very slowly. And now I am going to read the next book!
