From Goodreads:I recieved this book for review from MacMillan Publishers and I was so excited to read this book. I mean look at it. The cover is gorgeous, I love that cover and it sounded incredible.
The year is 2009. Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.
That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.
Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.
But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler. Recruit… or kill him.
Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.
However this book is just not for me. I could not get into it at all.
Instead of writing a review for a book I didn't finish which I find a little unfair since I haven't finished it so I can't judge the whole book I thought I would just leave a little note saying what I didn't like about it and why I can't finish it.
I think the story had great promise and I was really looking forward to reading this book. I heard it was about time-travel with romance including action as well. Hellooooooo that sounds awesome right? Kinda like The Time Travellers Wife and I loved that book/movie.
However I felt like this was nothing like that at all.
I felt like there wasn't enough time spent as character development and I couldn't get into this book at all. I felt like I didn't really know the characters before all the action was over. Because of that I hadn't really connected with the characters and didn't really care what happened to them. This happens rarely with me and I've very sad that I can't get into this. I wanted to love it so much but if I don't get that connection with the characters it is very difficult for me to enjoy a book.
I just want to thank Macmillan Publishers for sending me this book for review, I was very excited about it but I think I just had high expectations and I couldn't read it. I might try it again at some point but for right now I just can't continue.
It may be unfair to rate this book since I haven't finished it, but if I had to rate it based on what I read I would give it:
