Top 10 Favourite Books of 2011

So here we are, New Years Eve. The Last day of the year. This week I have shared with you my Top Book Boyfriends, New Series, Sequals, Covers, Breakthrough Authors and Books I never got to read. Finally we have arrived with my Top 10 Books of 2011. These are the books I enjoyed the most out of everything I read this year.
This was very difficult for me. I have read so many amazing books this year and I wanted to mention all of them but then this post would be really big as I read 123 books this year and to be honest, loved most of them.
Here are my Top 10.....

10. Wither by Lauren DeStefano!

Wither was also featured in my Top 10 New Series this week. I really enjoyed Wither. I think it's a fantastic start to a new series and I am so excited to read the next book in this series. It's a great original storyline and I loved every moment of it.
Some people have called this book depressing but I don't think it is. It's a dystopian novel and a lot of dystopian books have depressing aspects so I think it's really fitting for the genre. I really liked Wither and if you are in the UK it's currently 99p on Kindle. If you haven't read it you should really go get it. At that price it's amazing and definitely worth the read. I'm very excited for February so I can read Fever.

9. Angel Fire by LA Weatherly!

Angel Fire was also featured in my Top Sequels of 2011 and it's only fair that it made my Top 10 Books. I thought this book was phenomenal. I loved every moment of it. I recieved it for review from Usborne Publishing and I couldn't wait to read it. Though I did put it off for a while because of how thick it was but this book is 700+ pages of pure awesomeness. 100% better than the first book and at time I was screaming at the book going "What are you doing?!?!" Such a fantastic series, definitely the best Angel series I've read. I can't wait for the third and final book in the trilogy to be released in 2012 and see where it ends.

8. All These Things I've Done by Gabrielle Zevin!

Another book featured in my favourite new series, I was blown away by this book. It was phenomenal. I was sucked into this crazy world where Chocolate is illegal. I know right? WHAT?!?!?! and I just loved everything about this book. I had never read a Gabrielle Zevin book before and when I received it for review earlier this year (it's not out in the UK until March 2012) I couldn't wait to start it. I am definitely a fan of Gabrielle Zevin now and I adore this book. I can't wait for the second one to come out and I hope to read the rest of her books sometime. I can't wait to see what else she comes up with in those books.

7. Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning!

Fever was one of the series I started this year and loved it so much ended up reading all 5 books within a week. I loved it. Shadowfever is the one that made me Top 10 books as I think with Fever the first book is just okay and then they get better and better with each book. Shadowfever was definitely the best book in the series in my opinion. I loved it and I am looking forward to the spin-off with Danni. Though I don't actually like that character much I will still read the trilogy because at the end of them there is a promise of more Mac and Barrons books. Can't wait.

6. Divergent by Veronica Roth!

Divergent was another of the books I featured in my favourite new series post. I loved this book. It blew me away and I read it in one sitting. It's the book I have read the fastest. I read it in about 4 hours and I don't even know how I did that. I sat down to read a few chapters and the next thing I knew I was finished. It's amazing and I am so excited about Insurgent next year.

5. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi!

Shatter Me was the book that definitely surprised me the most this year. It was amazing and I loved it. I couldn't put it down. It was a little like Divergent, not in the storyline but in the way I sat down to read the first chapter and couldn't put it down. Shatter Me is a fantastic story and I love how is mixes a dystopian world and society with paranormal aspects. It's pretty much a perfect book for me as it mixes my two favourite aspects of books, dystopia and paranormal. I cannot wait for the second book.

4. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins!

Really I am counting the whole Hunger Games Trilogy in this not just the first book. I am actually really surprised I only put it at number 4 because this is the first dystopia series, it is my favourite series right now. It started off my dystopia obsession and I really cannot wait for the movie in March. This is a fantastic series and everyone needs to read it if they haven't already. I'm going to do a buddy read before the movie is released and I can't wait to read them again.

3. Half-Blood by Jennifer L Armentrout!

I know, you expected it to be in here somewhere right? I really wanted Half-Blood to be at Number 2 because JLA is my new favourite author and she deserved Half-Blood to be closer to the top but then I remembered how I reacted to the book I've put at number 2 and had to change it. Half-Blood is amazing and I am proud to say I was a member of the #HalfBloodLegion for the Heroine Tourney voting for Alex. I know she lost yesterday but she has only been known for a few months so to get where she did was incredible and there's always next time. I love Half-Blood. I read it in a day I couldn't put it down and I seriously cannot wait for Pure. It's going to be epic!

2. Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare!

Originally this was going to be number 1 but then I started re-reading book number 1 and it changed. I loved this book. The Infernal Devices is 100% better than The Mortal Instruments in my opinion. I love the time frame better, I love the characters better and the writing in CP is just so much better than in any of her other books. This book is so high on this list because of the way it made me react. It had me throwing my kindle across the table, screaming to an empty room and just crying hysterically. I actually had a mental breakdown and no book has ever made me react like that before and it's just incredible that CC made me react like that. I cannot wait until Clockwork Princess comes out and see how this ends. I have my fingers crossed that it'll all work out.

1. Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout!

You're not surprised this is number 1 right? I cannot praise this book enough. I have never been a fan of Alien books but this book changed all that. Jennifer is a genius for writing this book. It's amazing and phenomenal and I devoured it in one sitting. I could not stop reading and I am so obsessed with the book and Daemon as soon as Jennifer mentions a teaser or a Daemon POV scene well I just turn into a crazy woman. This is 100% the best book I have read this year. It's the first book by JLA I read and I fell in love with her writing and she is now my favourite author. So so excited for Onyx.

So there you go, my Top 10 Favourite books of 2011.
Is there anything you think I should have included?

Join me tomorrow for my 2012 Books I can't wait for!

Top 10 2011 Books I Couldn't Wait For But Never Got To

I know I know, it's a weird post to do but I really wanted to.
There were so many books released in 2011 and there were so many I couldn't wait for and were must-reads for me. However there are so many books that I haven't read and even more that I want to read so badly but haven't. So I wanted to show you some of these books.
Here are the Top 10 books that were released in 2011 that I was very excited for and were on my Must-Read list but unfortunately never got round to reading them.
Hopefully I can read them sometime in early 2012.

10. Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini

Starcrossed is a book I couldn't wait for when I first heard out it. It've very much mythological based and I absolutely adore books with mythology in them.
I am still really looking forward to reading this and I think it's going to be amazing. Book 2 Dreamless is coming out in 2012 so now is the perfect time to read Starcrossed.

9. Unearthly by Cynthia Hand!

In 2011 I found a love for Angel books, reading Hush Hush and Angel so I was really looking forward to reading Unearthly. Again I just got distracted by other books and never actually got around to reading it. I have the second book Hallowed from Netgalley for review so I will be reading Unearthly soon so I can read Hallowed.

8. Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep!

Touch of Frost is another mythology book that I couldn't wait to read. I have this and the prequel First Frost on my kindle. I haven't read anything by Jennifer Estep before but I do own the first book in her Elemental Assassin Series as well. I have heard mixed things about Touch of Frost but I still can't wait to read them. I hope to read this series and start the Elemental Assassin Series as well sometime in 2012.

7. Die For Me by Amy Plum!

I wanted to start Die For Me from the moment I saw that cover. Isn't it beautiful? I can't wait to read this book, I have heard great things about it thought I am still a little confused as to what genre this book is in. I thought it was a PNR or UF book but then I read a review saying it was a new-ish take on zombies. So does that mean it's dystopian? Most Zombie books are dystopian? If anyone's read it leave me a comment and let me know. Either way I'm really excited to read it. I love Zombie books!

6. Across the Universe by Beth Revis!

Across the Universe is a dystopian book set in space. 2011 saw me read my first eve dystopian book, The Hunger Games and it started an obsession. Dystopian is without a doubt my favourite genre of book right now and earlier this year I recieved Glow for review, another dystopian set in space and I loved it. After reading that I could not wait to read this book. I have heard great things and I cannot wait to read it.

5. Wildefire by Karsten Knight!

Wildefire is a book that the amazing Tee from Diary of a Book Addict sent me. It's not available in the UK yet, well I haven't seen it so she sent me it. I can't wait to read this. I meant to read it straight away as it's another mythology book and I love them but I just didn't have time to read it. I'm really looking forward to reading this and look at that cover, isn't it beautiful? I love how it's all like petals. I have high hopes for this book.

4. Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs!

This is another book Tee sent me. In 2011 I read Tera's Fins series, Forgive My Fins and Fins Are Forever and I loved them. I'm super excited to read another series by her as I adore her writing, Sweet Venom having mythology in it as well definitely adds to my excitement to read this.

3. Fury by Elizabeth Miles!

Fury is another mythology book I couldn't wait to read. I was gifted this book as a RAK and I was so excited to recieve it, especially this cover as it's just stunning. I'm very excited to read it and I'm really sad that I haven't managed to fit it in yet

2. Blood Red Road by Moira Young!

Blood Red Road is a book I bought when it first got released earlier this year. I bought it while my Dystopian buying-spree was going on where I just bought every dystopian book I could get my hands on and unfortunately it is still sat there on my shelf unread. I have set myself a dystopian challenge for 2012 to read all of the dystopian books I have sat unread on my shelf so hopefully that will get me reading this one.

1. Delirium by Lauren Oliver!

So here it is. My number one book I wish I had read this year. I only just recently got this book. It was one of my amazing Christmas presents from Tee. This is a dystopian I honestly could not wait for. It just sounds amazing. It's true I have heard mixed things about it, some people loved it some people didn't think it was that good but those negative things really don't lessen my excitement for this book. I think it sounds incredible and this will be one of the first books I read when I have caught up on my review books. I honestly can't wait to read this. I'm super excited!

So there you have it, my Top 10 books I wish I'd read in 2011. I was really looking forward to reading them, but just couldn't fit them in. 2011 was the year I started K-Books and started to get books for review. I recieved so many books for review that I found a lot of the books I had bought or been gifted I couldn't fit in because of review books. I am currently working my way through my review books now so that I can read these awesome books.

I'm not gonna go all Katniss has these strengths but Alex has this again. I'll keep it short and sweet!
Katniss has had 3 books for people to love her, don't get me wrong I love her too, I'm super excited for The Hunger Games movie BUT! Alex has had 1 book and she has captured hearts all over the globe and got people to love her and vote for her in a matter of months. The Hunger Games is a trilogy, how many books are already out? That's right all of them. But we have more Covenant books to come, more Alex, more Aiden :;sigh:: and more Seth. Katniss is a strong character of the past but Alex, she is the future. Mockingbird

Mockingbird
Kathryn Erskine

Publication Date: January 1, 2012
Date Read: December 29, 2011
Source: Review Copy from Publisher
Format: Paperback
Pages: 223

From Goodreads:
11-year-old Caitlin has Asperger’s syndrome, and has always had her older brother, Devon, to explain the confusing things around her. But when Devon is killed in a tragic school shooting, Caitlin has to try and make sense of the world without him. With her dad spending most of his time crying in the shower, and her life at school becoming increasingly difficult, it doesn’t seem like things will ever get better again.

A heart-warming story of loss and recovery that won the American National Book Award 2010 – one of the most moving books you’ll ever read.
*Thank you to Usborne Publishing for sending me a review copy

Wow, I have just finished this book and it just left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. It's such a beautiful story and I really enjoyed it.

Caitlyn has Asperger's Syndrome. Her brother as always been the one who helped her through social situations and helped her through. But then all of a sudden he is gone. Caitlyn is alone, left to deal with her grieving father and she just doesn't understand emotions. Can she face the world without the one person she loves the most?

I ended up enjoying this book a lot more than I thought. It's really not the sort of thing that I usually read but I thought it sounded like a really good story so I accepted it for review anyway. If I had to sum up this book in three words they would be beautiful, moving and uplifting.
The writing is superb. I love how the author really shows you what it would feel like to have this condition and as a Psychology student it was really a great book for me to read. You really sympathise with Caitlyn and it really opens your eyes as to how one event can change the lives of everyone in the community and how it can affect those with mental problems.
I really loved Caitlyn, she made my heart hurt and she made me smile and laugh as well. This is definitely a uplifting story of the after-effects of a tragedy and how people deal with it in different ways but even so you can help each other.

A beautiful story that is insightful and eye-opening to those with Asperger's Syndrome. What a brilliant author to be able to portray that. A great story I would recommend.

Top 10 Breakthrough Authors of 2011

Today's Top 10 is celebrating indie and debut authors. This top 10 includes both Indie authors and Debut authors.
2011 was the year in which I invested in a kindle. Investing in an e-reader really opened my eyes in the book world. If it wasn't for my kindle I wouldn't have read so many of the amazing books I did this year. There are so many amazing authors out there that I wouldn't have come across without it.
There are some amazing authors that have become some of my all time favourites, some of which are Indie authors, some which are debut authors. This post is to celebrate some of the rising talent in the book world that surfaced this year.

10. M.R Merrick!

M.R Merrick, author of Exiled.
I received Exile for review from the author and it was one of the first Indie books I read and it completely stuck in my head. It was so good. I loved the world that Matthew created and I love the characters. I am very excited for the second book Shift to be released so I can continue this great series. MR Merrick is one of the authors that I had never heard of before this year and I am now anticipating his next book.

Check out my Review!

9. Lisa Kessler!

Lissa Kessler, author of Across the Veil and Night Walker.
Lissa Kessler is one of the authors who I have worked with throughout the year to help spread the word about her books. She is an amazing author. Early in the year I read her short story Across the Veil and fell in love with her writing style, the only thing I didn't like was how short the story was. Once she told me about her full-length novel coming out this year Night Walker, I couldn't wait to read it. I was not disappointed. It was amazing and I am so proud to me a member of her Street Team to help spread the word. I am super excited for Night Demon to be released in 2012.
She is definitely a breakthrough author for me. I can't wait for her next book.

8. Cambria Hebert!

Cambria Hebert, author of Whiteout, Before and Masquerade.
I met Cambria on goodreads last year and we instantly got along with our shared love of books, fictional guys and Vampire Diaries. When I found out she had books coming out I couldn't wait to read them. I wasn't disappointed. Masquerade is such a fantastic book. It hooked me striaght away and I couldn't put it down.
I haven't read Whiteout yet but I definitely plan to soon. After reading Before and Masquerade I can't wait to read something else that she wrote. She's a brilliant new author and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

7. Mia Castile!

Mia Castile, author of The Ocean and Generations Series.
Mia is an author I met through Emma @ Belle Books Blog. Emma was recruiting blogger for a blog tour from Mia's book The Ocean. Let's just sat I loved that book. It's such a fantastic story, a really great chic-lit book. When I heard Mia had a paranormal series coming out I couldn't wait to read it and I was lucky enough to receive and ARC for it. I'm sure she is trying to torture me with the ending of the first Generations book and I am very excited to read the next book. She is a brilliant author who I had never hear of before 2011 and I am so glad I took part in The Ocean blog tour and found a new great author to follow.

5. K.C Neal!

The last of my Indie authors and by far my favourite so far is the wonderful KC Neal. Author of Pyxis.
I love Pyxis. I was so excited to read it. From the moment I saw the cover I needed to read it and I wasn't disappointed. It's a fantastic story and I loved every moment of it. If there's a book you want to buy on your Kindle or Nook or whatever other e-reader you have you need to make sure it is Pyxis.
I can't wait for the next book in the series and whatever she comes up with next. I love her writing style and I think she's an incredible new author.

4. Veronica Roth!

Veronica Roth, author of Divergent, is one of the debut authors that just completely blew me away. Divergent is one of my favourite dystopian books and I read it in about 4 hours. I could not put it down and I am so excited for Insurgent in 2012.
Veronica's amazing narration sucked me in right from the start and made Divergent unputdownable for me. She is definitely a 2011 debut author to watch out for in the future.

4. LA Weatherly!

LA Weatherly is another author I had never heard of before this year and she completely blew me away with her Angel Trilogy. I think the first Angel book came out in 2010 but I didn't read it until this year so to me she is an author I hadn't heard of before 2011. I love the Angel Series. I think it's incredible and it's my favourite Angel Series of all time. None of the other Angel Series quite compare to Angel and Angel Fire for me and I am super excited to read the final book next year. She's a great author and I love her writing and her characters. She definitely made me fall head over heels in love with Alex so I'm very excited to read the final book in this series and see what she comes up with next!

3. Lauren DeStefano!

Lauren DeStefano is another author who debuted this year and I fell in love with her writing and her characters. Wither is such an incredible book and it was featured in my favourite series starters of 2011. I thought it was a great dystopian world that she had built and it's such an amazing original idea for a book and I loved it. Her writing skill is incredible and I loved the characters she built. I love all of them Gabriel, Rhine, yes even Linden. I can't wait to read Fever in February 2012.

2. Tahereh Mafi!

Tahereh Mafi, author of Shatter Me.
Shatter Me is a book I read recently and it completely blew me away. I was very surprised by it. I sat down to read a chapter just to get a feel for the book and the next thing I knew I was 100 pages in. It completely hooked me and I couldn't put it down. It's a fantastic dystopian book and I can't wait to read on in this series.
Tahereh done a fantastic job writing this book, this book really touched me, at the start my heart hurt for Juliette and I just wanted to give her a hug and then she provided me with yet another book boyfriend. Adam, yummy. I just loved this book and I can't wait to read the next book. A fantastic debut author I absolutely love!

1. Jennifer L Armentrout!

Let me guess? Your not surprised right? If anyone knows me well and talk to me all the time this will not be a surprise at all as I cannot stop gushing about Jennifer. She brought me 2 of my all time favourite books, Obsidian and Half-Blood. She is one of my all time favourite..... No actually I take that back, as of right now she is my NUMBER 1 TOP! favourite author. I love her! I can't say anything bad, all I can do is gush about her books. They are absolutely fantastic. The first book I read by Jennifer was Obsidian and let me say it is my favourite book right now. It's amazing. If you haven't read it, what the hell are you waiting for? Go get it right now! Obsidian is a kind of obsession of mine. Not only is the cover the hottest damn cover I've ever seen but it has Daemon ::sigh:: I love him more than anything and I am so excited for Onyx and Pure and Diety and all of the other books she has coming out next year. I seriously don't even know what some of them are about, but you know what? I don't even care! Jennifer has wrote them and that's all I need to know, I know they will be amazing. She is definitely the number 1 breakthrough author of 2011. She has come so far and she has such an incredibly loyal fanbase. She has had a fantastic year with the release of Half-Blood and Obsidian which are fantastic and she has a incredibly busy year ahead of her and I know she will continue with her success and become even bigger an better in the coming years.

Top 10 Covers of 2011

Today I am going to show you my Top 10 Covers of 2011.
Covers are very important to me when deciding whether or not to buy a book. I know, I know, Never judge a book by its cover but come on, admit it. We all do it! The cover is what draws is to a book, it's what makes us pick it up in the store. If the cover is plain are you going to pick it up and see what the book is about or are you gonna walk past to another book? Be honest! You'll walk straight past it and never give it another thought.
This post will include book released in 2011 as well as covers that were revealed in 2011 but the book isn't out until 2012.
So here we go my Top 10 covers of 2011
Are you ready to be blinded by the insane beauty of them?
Are you sure?!?!?!
Okay!

10. Pyxis by KC Neal!

Well, from the first moment I saw this cover I instantly wanted to read it. I mean look at it it's beautiful. I love the colors and I love what she is holding, how it gave off light. Seeing it made me want to read this book so bad and I was so glad to receive it for review and let me say, the book did not disappoint. Not at all I absolutely loved it!
A beautiful cover for a beautiful book. I really need this in paperback. It's too pretty to be confined to my e-reader.

9. Soul Screamers Vol 1 by Rachel Vincent!

What can I say about this cover other than look at it? It's stunning. I really loved the first book in this series and even though I already owned the first 2 books when I saw this cover for the first omnibus I just had to have it. I love it, it's so beautiful. I love her white dress and how it starts turning into wisps of black smoke. It's just beautiful. I love the font of the title and I think it's just such a breathtakingly beautiful cover and I was so happy to recieve this book for Christmas I can't wait to re-read it now I have the beautiful omnibus edition!

8. Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan!

Wow! That was my first thought when I saw this cover. It's the UK cover of Glow, published by MacMillan and let me say they know how to sell books, look at that cover, it's so beautiful! I love it. I do love the US cover as well, they are very different. The US cover is very simple black but the UK one, I just adore it. I love the purple, I love the stars and I love how in the O there is an eclipse. It's a perfect cover that goes perfectly with the storyline. Another thing I love about this cover, which you can't see on this picture is that on the back of the book there is a picture similar to the front but of a guy which I love. The book is a split narrative, half from the girls pov and half from the guy's pov so I think this cover shows many aspects of the book perfectly. Plus it's purple my favourite colour!

7. Cursed by Jennifer L Armentrout!

When I first saw this cover I instantly thought OMG I need to have that on my shelf. I wanted to buy it and read it without even knowing what it is about. I saw this cover before I had even heard of Half-Blood or Obsidian by Jennifer and let me say, I still don't really know what this book is about but I can't wait to read it. I don't need to know what it's about. It had Jennifer's name on the bottom and that's all I need to read it. For an author who I had never heard of before this year she has made such an incredible impression on my that now every time I see a book by her I don't need to know what it's about I will buy it anyway because she is amazing and I know it will be incredibly awesome! This is definitely a book to look out for in 2012!

6. Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare!

Clockwork Prince is amazing. I just had to say that first. Everyone must read it it's so good. Okay, now the cover. How awesome is that cover. I love it! It's beautiful! I love the colour I love the dark and then the glowing gold and I love how the covers for these books really show the era in which it is set. The building behind him is incredible and I love how it's all very magical and shadowy! A beautiful cover for a fabulous series! Love it!

5. Divergent by Veronica Roth!

The cover of Divergent just blew me away. It's so very eye-catching. I wanted to read it immediately when I saw the cover. I love how it fits in with it's dystopian genre. I love the city at the bottom and then the symbol at the top. What's more eye-catching than a symbol on fire? It's beautiful and I instantly wanted to know what the symbol was, what the book was about and I wanted to read it even more because it was dystopian. My dystopian obsession started in 2011 and Divergent was one of the best I read. A great book that everyone should read!

4. Wither by Lauren DeStefano!

Well this cover doesn't really need much explanation does it? It's just stunning. I love this cover, I actually love everything about it, the dress, the colour, the design. I love how it has circles about things that are important to the story and I love the cover for book 2 just as much. This is a great book and I can't wait to read book 2, released in February 2012. This series is definitely looking up to having very beautiful covers. I so want that dress. It's beautiful. I just love this cover and I can't stop gushing about it! Okay, okay I'll shut up now!

3. Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning!

Shadowfever, the fifth book of the incredible Fever series are only just getting published here in the UK and this is the upcoming cover of the UK edition of Shadowfever. I love it. I love how is matches all of the other covers of this series. I love the UK covers of this series, they are stunning. I love how there is smoke at the top and bottom of the picture and I think the picture is stunning. I love this series and I can't wait for this to be released in January 2012 so that I can have these beautiful covers on my shelf and I can't wait to re-read them.

2. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi!

I think this cover is just stunning. I love how simple it is with the white dress and then it's like there's things exploding around her showing power. It is so good for the story and shows the parts of the story amazingly. I love how there is the strikethrough writing on the cover that kind of shows you what to expect from the book. It's such a brilliant book and I love how the cover matched the story perfectly. A wonderfully beautiful cover for an amazing story. One of the best books published in 2011 and one of the most beautiful covers!

1. Onyx by Jennifer L Armentrout!

Here we go guys, my favourite cover reveal of the year is Onyx, the second book in the Lux series by Jennifer L Armentrout. I freaking love the covers for this series. It's stunning, and I am so in love with that guy, how yummy. I love how he is exactly how I picture Daemon anyway so it's perfect. I love everything about it. I love the blue and I love the rock behind them which is perfect for the storyline of this series. Obsidian is one of my favourite 2011 books and I am so excited to read this book. I can't wait to read more and have this book sat next to Obsidian on my shelf. It's so stunning. I loved the cover for Obsidian but this surpasses it so much. I can't wait to see the cover for Book 3. If you haven't read Obsidian already, go get it now because it is just beautiful and amazing! Love Love Love this series and the covers are the best I've seen! Love them!

So there you go, the most beautiful covers revealed in 2011 for me.

Top 10 Sequels in 2011

Welcome to me second Top 10 of 2011 post. I know there is another Top 10 week going on but I wanted to do mine separate with my own categories.
Today's post is the Top 10 Sequels of 2011. This is where I have read a sequel or a book in a series that isn't the first that I thought was better than the first book in the series.

10. The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong!

The Awakening is book 2 in The Darkest Powers Trilogy by Kelley Armstrong. The series surrounds a group of magical teenagers as they go on the run together. It took me a while to get into the first book The Summoning but when I did I loved it. I think this is a great storyline. Because I was already into the story I found that I enjoyed The Awakening a lot more. I can't really say a lot about it as I read it at the beginning of the year but I do remember Book 2 and 3 were much better than the first. I can't wait to read the spin-off series starting with The Gathering.

9. Thorn Queen by Richelle Mead!

Thorn Queen is the second book in the Dark Swan series by Richelle Mead. I love this series. I think it's brilliant. I really enjoyed Storm Born which I read at the beginning of the year but when I read Thorn Queen last month I was just completely blown away by it and it left me wanting more. I need to read the third book in this series and I have very high hopes. Book 2 definitely excels Book 1 and I can't wait to see what happens next. A brilliant series set between the Human World and a world ran by Fae. A great series and I can't wait to read books 3 and 4 to see how is ends.

8. Bloodlines by Richelle Mead!

Okay, it's true, I kinda cheated with this one. I know Bloodlines is the first in the Bloodlines series but it kinda counts because it is the sequel to the Vampire Academy series. And Yes, I also cheated with the fact that I don't actually like it more than Vampire Academy but I love it just as much and I couldn't fit it in my Top 10 New Series so I wanted it to be in one of my lists somewhere. Plus Adrian is in it and I just love him and all the way through this book I was just in fits of laughter with the things he says (see Book Boyfriends posts for some funny quotes). I think this book deserves to be in a Top 10 list somewhere so yes, I cheated but no, I don't care. It's worth it.

7. Last Breath by Rachel Caine!

Last Breath isn't particularly a sequel since it's book 11 in the Morganville Vampires series but omg it was amazing. It completely blew me away and it is definitely my favourite of the series so far. I could not put it down and ended up reading it in 1 day. I loved it and it made me laugh, it broke my heart and made me cry and I couldn't stop reading until I knew everything was going to work out, even if it meant sitting up all night reading, which I did. If you haven't read this series I suggest you do so. It's amazing and it's the only series that has over 10 books where I am still waiting (im)patiently for the next book.

6. The Dead-Tossed Waves by Carrie Ryan!

The Dead-Tossed Waves is the second in the Forest of Hands and Teeth series. This is the first series centred around zombies that I read and I loved it. I think this book is better than the first by a long mile, I love how it is set years after book 1 and Gabry has to delve into her family secrets to find out what's going on. I loved every moment of this book and even after reading Book 3 which is phenomenal I still think I like this one a little better. It's a great series to start with if you haven't read a zombie book before. I never thought I'd like zombie books but now I love them and it's because of this series.

5. Angel Fire by LA Weatherly!

As you saw yesterday Angel was one of my favourite new series of 2011. When I read book 1 I was blown away by the unique storyline and it was an angel series unlike I had ever come across before. When I received Angel Fire I didn't actually start it striaght away even though I was dying to find out what happened. Why? Because it's over 700 pages and I was a little intimidated by how thick it was. I needn't have worried because it was AH-MA-ZING! Even better than Book 1 and it had me on the edge of my seat. At times I was laughing at happy the next moment I was screaming at the book and wouldn't stop reading until everything was sorted out. It definitely had me on an emotional rollercoaster but it was worth it. I cannot wait until Book 3 next year and see how the story is going to end. If you haven't read this series READ IT NOW! It's without a doubt the best Angel series out there!

4. Deadline by Mira Grant!

Deadline is the second book in the Newsflesh series coming after Feed. I think this is 100% better than Feed. I don't know if it is because I found it very difficult to get into Feed because of the political aspect and by the time I had finished it I had gotten used to it but I think this is so much better. It's definitely ore emotional. I couldn't start Deadline straight after Feed because the ending of Book 1 just broke my heart so much I needed a light happy book to read first. When I finally started this book I was blown away yet again by the story and it hurt my heart a lot. It's so much more emotional than the first and it had my in hysterical tears multiple times. The ending completely shocked me and I cannot wait for Blackout to be released to see how this trilogy will end. This series is without a doubt my favourite zombie series but it's very heavy so if you haven't read zombie books before this probably isn't the best series to start with. However I would recommend it to everyone. I love this series.

3. Bloodfever by Karen Marie Moning!

Fever series is one of the series I started this year and it completely blew me away. I love this series, though I didn't love the first book so much. I love the storyline but it just didn't blow me away like other series but I kept reading and I fell in love with this series and Barrons in Bloodfever. I think this is the book where it got me hooked to this series and unable to put it down. I absolutely loved it and I definitely fell in love with Barrons in this book. It's a fantastic series and I think you just have to get through the first book before it gets amazingly un-put-downable. Don't get me wrong I did like the first book, I wouldn't have continued with the series if I hadn't I just think the series gets better and better with each book you read.

2. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins!

The Hunger Games was amazing! Phenomenal! I cannot praise it enough. This is my breakthrough series of the year. I had never heard of it and now it holds a special place in my heart and it my all time favourite series EVER! at least from all the series I have read so far. I cannot say a bad word about the first book but the second one completely blew me away. I love it even more than the first book and it is my favourite of the series. I love everything about it. I love the new characters the storyline I love everything! I can't really sat why I love it so much, I just do. If you haven't read this series, what the hell are you waiting for? Read it now! It's epic! And the movie is out soon. If you can't tell, I'm super excited!

1. Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare!

Here it is! My number 1 sequel that is better than the first book. Why Clockwork Prince! Obviously! Clockwork Angel was good, I really liked it. I like the characters, the time in which it's set and seeing the links between this series and TMI. But... Oh. My. God! Clockwork Prince blew me away. It is the best Cassandra Clare book, the writing is phenomenal the characters are phenomenal and Cassie Clare, well she just wants to torture me doesn't she? This is the one and only book that made me have a mental breakdown. I was happy one minute and the next te kindle was thrown across the table and I was sat screaming and crying for hours. I couldn't help it this book was just phenomenal in every sense of the word. No book has ever made me react like that. Not ever, so it has to be number 1, it is 100% better than Clockwork Angel and a million times better than The Mortal Instruments Series. I need Clockwork Princess like RIGHT NOW! I cannot wait for it and the wait is just too damn long!

So there you have it, my Top 10 Sequels of 2011.
What do you think? Is there any YOU think I missed out that should have been there?
